Re: Collective Arts

Even better if you commit to a case Canuck and Pompous are $2.50/can. Essentially unbeatable. If you are fortunate like me and mostly work from home and live in the GTA, there is nothing more civilized than ordering from GLB and having their friendly driver show up the next day. They even did a cha...

Re: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

I seem to recall Fat Tug showing up on sale from time to time. It actually made me chuckle, because it was generally cheaper to buy in Ontario than BC already.

Re: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Does anyone know if Sierra Nevada Pale is still coming into Ontario? Limited stock at the LCBOs which suspiciously looks like leftovers. Von Terra's (their agent, at least they were the last time I heard) website is gone and no social posts for a few years. https://www.lcbo.com/en/storeinventory/?s...

A re-focus on quality may do them some good..... I think you are on to something. For a while now I've thought they should regroup to some of their core product, get it right and throw in some rotational seasonals and maybe the occasional collab. Every time I go to the LCBO I feel they have some ot...

Re: Schooner Street Brewery

It could have been written by one of the boyfriends/girlfriends padding their resume, but Chat GPT seems about right. I didn't bother going to their website (shame on me), but based on what I just read here, they must have pretty sticky floors or puddles. I bet they are 'dropping' new beers all the ...

Re: Talk or Action?

Honestly, I'm more annoyed by TBS being the only option for container return. Especially as more and more locations close and not everybody can make their way to them with empties. If they blow it up, I sure hope they come up with something smarter. The proper solution is universal deposit on all be...

I think I know who either owns or funds Blogto. Every other day there is a post like "Drake just trimmed his toenails", "Drake glanced at a cute puppy", "Drake bought a new scarf" or some other crap like that. I do like like their call-outs on restaurant infractions tho...

Re: Breweries closing and/or restructuring and/or bought out

I'm surprised there is so little discussion about burnout in this business. I imagine it must be rampant. As a homebrewer I constantly get people telling me I should start a brewery. No bloody way. It's got to be the quickest path to taking something I enjoy and making it a misery. People really hav...

Re: Aging canned Unibroue vs bottled

If anything cans will retain a fresher, or closer to canning date flavour than bottles and should remain drinkable as long or even longer. Downside is generally some of the changes attributed to aging in bottles, especially that sherry-like result of slow oxidation may not happen; or will take far ...

Re: Best Ontario pilsners

Funny timing on this post. I just took delivery of some Great Lakes Euro Pils, brewed with Amsterdam. Not a classic Pils in my opinion and pretty (maybe very) aggressive on the hops and dryness, but that's quite far up my alley, so I'm really liking it. I think it's only available for brewery pick u...

Re: Best Happy Hour Deals in Ontario (Ongoing)

For those uptown, Function Bar at Y&E has $7.50 pints with a good interesting selection on Friday and Saturday happy hour. Regular prices are a bit steep (isn't it everywhere now?), but their food prices and offerings seem very fair. I wish they were open Mondays, as that would be the perfect ni...

Re: Best Happy Hour Deals in Ontario (Ongoing)

The Pint by the convention centre on Front St. used to have some decent weeknight happy hour prices and a good selection. I haven't been in a while, so it might have changed. Their regular prices were not that bad either. The place can get a bit loud though.
