Re: What're you drinking right now?

Collective Arts Matter Of Fact Some of you will sneer at the comparative lightness of body of this decently dry-hopped Blonde but it's pretty nice as a moderate session ale close to an Ordinary Bitter in style. If it were a little lower in ABV that would be great too (4.9%) https://collectiveartsbr...

Re: Left Field Brewery

I heard word today that Left Field is increasing their staff pay to $22/hr.

Kudos!

I won't even complain if there needs to be a price increase to support this.

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)

I wonder if there will be an octopus tank? Keeping a live octopus in a tank is probably not cool. Painting a giant octopus mural ON a beer tank would be though! I recall being told, perhaps incorrectly, that they had an octopus at the brewery. I always imagined it sneaking out at night for samples....

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)

I hope this is better executed than the Amsterdam brewpub. Yeah have some of the flagship beers on, hopefully brought in from the main facility, while the on-premises equipment should be used for experimentation (and be well stocked!) and anything that proves popular scale up for broader distributi...

Driftwood Fat Tug

Well, it finally happened, I'm pining for travel again. Especially to some of my favorite beer friendly cities like Vancouver. BC has so many awesome breweries, too much to go into here, but it's also great that some of their 'just available everywhere' beers are solid. Even walking into a stupid sp...

Re: Great Lakes

I'm just digging into a 2020/2021 Thrust, which I also tried a few weeks back (different batches, I think) and am also kind of feeling underwhelmed in comparison to how I remember it. Perhaps I just need that genuine barroom on tap atmosphere to enjoy these. Thankfully, I have one more Robo to cheer...

Re: Great Lakes

I had the latest Robohop the other night. I admit, I am getting tired of much of the NE IPA bandwagon efforts out there and was skeptical of GLBs recent run of releasing versions of their classic Tank Tens in this theme. However, this release of Robo is very nice, I'm really happy that they used the...

Re: Nickel Brook Soda

Question for those of you exploring the craft soda scene. Anybody come across a good unsweetened tonic water in the local market? Personally I just don't like sweetened drinks, sugar or otherwise. I get that quinine can be a potent substance without some sweetener, but I actually had a totally unsw...

Re: Persian Empire

At least they have the decency to categorize their beer as alcoholic and non alcoholic. That's a big help. Also, their brand is "Canada's No 1" at something. Good for them! As for the price, remember 2/3 of new breweries seem to be started by accountants wanting a change of life. This migh...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

I guess one of the Steamwhistle owners is back and cleaning house hehe Damn, I'm a sucker for that era of BMWs. I wonder if that's just a wrap that comes off easily, I bet they'd let it go for a bargain... I couldn't quite put my finger on why that Von Bugle stuff tasted so bad, but now I got it. F...

Re: Von Bugle Brewing

These guys confound me. Finally someone sticks their neck out to make a locally brewed Vienna Lager, understandably a bit of a boring category, but then they find a way to make it even more *meh*. Yet they spend all the effort and money to buildi a separate brand for said *meh*. Was this like some h...

Re: Vienna in Venice? Belgo-Austrian Herbal Ale

From the Spadina Front store - Birra B2O Venusa Ambrata.. 75 cl bottle. Not even listed in the LC system, From the Venetian islands, sorta interesting. A basic fruity Vienna Lager style with some Belgian Ale spice and pear overtones, bottle-conditioned. A high fermentation amber beer, unpasteurized...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Recently: Saison Dupont Cuvee Dry Hopped (Amazing!) Boon Framboise (Unfortunately, not a traditional lambic. This has been sweetened.) Aventinus Eisbock (Also amazing) Hop City Boxcar Bock (Not bad) Muskoka's Munich to my Ears (Very good) I think the Munich is done for the season. I haven't seen it...
