Re: Belgians

Hi new to the forums, but I will be in the vacinity of a Total Wine outlet in North Carolina and will be returning mid July. For those that haven't had the pleasure, they have LARGE imported beer sections. I have photos. I spent a lengthy afternoon browsing. Should I be bringing extra Chimay Blue a...

Perhaps they wanted to bring it in line with Dogfish and Dead Guy, which are listed at $13.95 in the craft beer booklet. It is odd to hike it $2 from a published price. Seeing as it's a published price, couldn't one argue that they have to sell it at that price, as it'd be false advertising otherwi...

It's pretty good. You may get hooked into more than one.

Seconded. The original price of $12.whatever was from the LCBO's US Craft Beer booklet, n'est pas?

I picked up the Red Baron and both Brickman's in cans at the Brick Beer Store Saturday. I've also heard that the Georgian Bay Dipper can is out in Parry Sound. According to my contact, the can reads "Brewed for Midland Beer Works by Hockley Valley Brewing Co. Orangeville, ON." Anybody kno...

You mean they've got some good beer back? They've fooled me the last few visits there with offerings of Trailhead and Red Baron. 4 out of 14 taps actually having beer. Dare I say that things might be improving again? I'm told by a reliable source that they had Maudite on tap a couple of weeks ago.

It's spreading out some. London and Stratford both have a supply. I'm looking forward to this one, I'm a Hockley fan.

Re: Southern Tier Porter

Not to be down on you but since when has London Porter ever been hoppy? Are you sure you're talking about the same beer? The LP even has a more coffee'd flavour than the St Ambroise. Gotta say that I've never ever tried a hoppy London Porter from Fuller's. Cococolate, coffee, malt yes but hops? Nah...

Re: Southern Tier Porter

Not quite as hoppy as Fuller's London Porter, and not quite as coffee'd as St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. Pretty tasty overall. Not to be down on you but since when has London Porter ever been hoppy? Southern Tier Porter

Had this at Chaucer's today. Pours a dark, almost sludgy brown, virtually no head. Mouthfeel is thick, lightly carbonated. The strongest note is coffee, the hops are bitter but not overly forward. Not quite as hoppy as Fuller's London Porter, and not quite as coffee'd as St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. ...

Just a heads up, I was at Chaucer's today, and they're still waiting for the keg to arrive. Apparently, it was promised for late May, and it hasn't appeared yet.
