Re: Did Bellwoods go too far with PG

I'd have to agree that this isn't really a "beer"... I'd consider it a radler. At 7% vs. a witchsharks 9% I'd imagine that this guava one is about 20% juice (somebody with more time and math skills might want to correct me on that?!). Anyhow, tasty, but not really what I was looking for in...

Re: Great Lakes

I was pretty hooked on Limp Puppet when it was out. Did Sunnyside simply replace that one? seems like it. I'm guessing hop prices/availability play a big factor in what gets a major release (which would probably explain the exclusion of thrust). oh, and, limp puppet wasn't exactly a great brand nam...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

you are of course forgetting to factor in labour costs, rent, hydro and other overhead, the fact that the equipment being used to make this is not being used to make another more profitable batch and of course the governments cut!

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Because you don't enjoy them they are "not particularly well made"? Ya, that must be it. Just ignore his comments. We all have our biases towards or against certain breweries and he seems to have a fairly obvious predisposition to dislike Bellwoods beers, regardless of the style. actually...

Re: Redline Brewhouse - Barrie, ON

hoo boy, these clutch's are good. I had my first try of it in the summer which was enjoyable but, in retrospect, may have been a little old... this new batch? absolutely delicious. a more than welcome addition to the increasingly tiresome and mediocre new Ontario offerings at the lcbo. I can't wait ...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I just tasted the draft version of 3 Minutes to Midnight at Hafis rd this afternoon and I officially have no idea what people are talking about with regard to it being a "hot boozy mess" or something. No alcohol burn to speak of, no medicinal cherry flavor, good barrel character but not o...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I know we'll disagree... but, yeah, I think I'd be generous to say I liked even 25% of what I've had (and that's liked, I've never loved anything if I can recall). I WANT to like them... but, honestly, I think their offerings have been in inline with what I'd expect from a small startup brewpub or a...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

always entertaining to see the passion people have for bellwoods (for or against)! It's been interesting watching this company grow as I live a block away from the ossington brewery and work a block away from the DuPont site (which is looking like a money pit - I think it will either sink them or pr...

Re: Great Lakes

drinking a life sentence out of my newly acquired spiegelau glass right now... killer! I found it too sweet. I quite like it.. it's not the near perfection that last years was though... but, miles better than the one the year before (or, most brewers attempts at such a beer). looking forward to/wor...

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases

did I miss all the talk about Juicin' from Sawdust?!
that was one of the best and exciting beers I've had in a long time... kind of reminded me of Barrier Money (though I haven't had that in about a year).

Re: Ransack the universe

I'd still take a headstock over a Ransack but it's all in all not a bad beer. headstock hasn't been the same since they moved production to hamilton... in fact, I find ransack to be much more like "golden era" headstock than headstock is itself! I'm not sure if the brewer still works with...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

yeah, I had trouble reading the octopus dates... but, it's moving so quickly It's pretty much guaranteed to be fresh if you find one! pro tip: if the cans are still in the case - they stamp the cases with the date as well. and, really enjoying this tank ten release - the beer itself as well as the f...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Just had RoboHop last night as well and it was very good. reminded me of an even stronger headstock. Speaking of Headstock I nearly jumped out of my shoes yesterday when I picked up a few cans at my LCBO with a bottled date of 03/15. Soooooo fresh and yummy. Nickel Brook are posting bottled on date...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

yeah, I had a bottle of the delicious in NYC last year from a bodega and I found it forgettable. I had no idea it was it was gluten reduced and don't remember seeing any mention of it on the packaging (?!). oh, and, I should add - the fact that I bought beer from a corner store that one time propell...
