Re: Beer & Brewing Critiques & Pet Peeves

I have way too many of these....

But the one that makes me crazy is brewery staff who don't know anything about their beer. I've lost count of the times I've asked something like "which hops are in that IPA?" and get completely blank stares.

Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer

It is an odd pricing strategy and hopefully doesn't mean increased retail pricing is coming down the line. I know it's been discussed before and might not be a fair perception, but I still struggle with paying over a certain amount for NA beer. $17 feels steep, especially when Farm Boy sells Claust...

Re: Passage Brewery

Very much looks like Stillfields 2.0, and literally 30 minutes away from where version 1 didn't work. I love seeing breweries focus on under appreciated styles, but seriously, who is paying $9 for 500ml of beer from an unknown brewery? Has it not been proved over and over that you have to have some ...

Re: C'est What Fall Festival 2024

Popped in here for dinner last night - first time I'd been to their mini-fest in a few years. C'est What never seems to change, which is a good thing from my point of view. I always think this is a good value evening - tokens are $2.50 each, and some stuff (mostly sours and bigger IPAs) need two tic...

Friday night. I prefer that one so I'm not wasted during a day session and can enjoy a full day of exploring on Saturday.
I'm going for the first time this year - very excited. I'll be at the Saturday session, but in Chicago from Wednesday. Maybe a BT meetup!?!

Re: Boston

Hey folks, I'm heading to Boston for a conference on Sunday so was hoping people might have some recommendations. Conference is in Back Bay, and I won't have a vehicle, so outlying spots like Treehouse are probably out. I have Trillium, Night Shift and Jack's Abby on the list... anywhere else (pub o...

Re: Ontario Beer Delivery Index

https://www.stillfieldsbrewery.com/ is another new one. some local citzens talking about them. Try anything? more tart than Sonnen? I work about 3 minutes away from these guys - owners are a long-standing local family, and a former Bellwoods brewer. Really fascinating set-up - all oak, mostly home-...

Re: Ontario will allow restaurants to sell takeout liquor, wine and beer

Seems silly to me that people can smoke marijuana in parks... Are you sure? I didn't think legalization of marjuana meant that you could consume it anywhere in public, let alone smoke it. Certainly doesn't make sense that you would be allowed to smoke marijuana in places where you can't smoke tobac...

Re: Ontario Beer Delivery Index

Also, several breweries have shifted to Canpar. So far these have shipped blazing fast, and no issues upon delivery. Quick Google search shows Spearhead, Grain & Grit and Cowbell are using Canpar. Anyone else? I wish Dominion and Sawdust would switch over to Canpar. Just had a Sawdust delivery ...

Maybe it's just my local post office, but my order was just left by the front door today - no signature or ID required.

Re: Founders Canadian Breakfast

Friend of mine picked some up in Kitchener today. My guess is that head office didn't tell any store they were meant to hold it back, and so it got delivered and went on the shelves.

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I have no information on which to suggest anything, but you have to agree that it is a little curious that a new beer comes out from a small Ontario brewery and all the ratings are from Europe, don't you? If FM regularly exports to Greece in particular or Europe in general then that would explain i...

Re: LCBO Online Ordering Launches

I had a quick look this morning and am actually pretty pleased with the option. Whilst I'm not likely to get a case of the "online-only" stuff, I'm really happy to see that you can order individual cans/bottles of everything else. For those of us outside the cities, that's a hell of a lot ...

As did I. I suspect it might come back in a can - if it does, I'll try one again.
