Final Edit:
Well, I took a look today and the LCBO website has changed their database so the scraper is broken. Unfortunately due to family obligations I won't have time to fix it. It's been fun though!

Re: lcboapi.com and drinkvine.com
Sorry, I haven't had a chance to look at it for a while. Do you happen to know one of the new products (name or item number)? That will help me debug. Edit: Is it possible that there haven't been any new beers in the past 3 weeks? I went through the LCBO's "Shop New Beers" "New and se...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread
caskhunter and LCBOWatch both have the same ABV sorting bug (anything over 9.9% gets sorted on the bottom or top). LCBOWatch doesn't even let you sort by price. Ack! I never noticed this. EDIT: Fixed by adding a leading zero to ABV. Just noticed that the "size" field sorts funny, but I do...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread
That's cool, prices appear to be off though. That's true- when I made it I was never concerned with the exact prices, I really wanted to know what was in stock. The prices listed right now are what the products first listed at on lcbo.com. When I get around to updating I'll make it re-scrape pricin...

Re: Online order problems...
I don't mind if it takes a few minutes to find my box, it's a new process for everyone involved. Generally it takes about 10 minutes to find my order, so I'm usually out the doors in 15. My problem is that my orders often have items cancelled on me without notice. I have 4 orders being processed rig...

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)
They are definitely selling imported beer. The La Trappe products (except the canned collab) are labelled Authentic Trappist Products, a certification which stipulates: "All products must be made within the immediate surroundings of the abbey." Confirmed. Brewed in the Netherlands at Bier...

I still have three bottles of the Oak Aged Quad, but they're at the in-laws house. I'm curious to see what they say. If I visit them this weekend I'll take a look at the bottle and report back.

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)
IIRC they told me that they had a brewer visit from Weihenstephaner for a collab brew, same as La Trappe. Have they found a new way to import and sell into Ontario?
Edit: Looks like their Senior Brewing Advisor studied at Weihenstephan

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)
I bought some of the La Trappe Oak Aged Quad when I was there, and I thought the same thing. I asked one of the employees and he told me that "most" of the beers in the fridge were brewed there, but the middle fridge (at the time) wasn't. The middle fridge had La Trappe Quad, La Trappe Oak...

Re: LCBO.com
This thread was started close to five years ago when the 'new' lcbo.com site was launched. It wasn't very good at first, as the complaints in this thread show. One of the big issues, especially for me, was the lack of a "search all stores" option. Because of that, I used to use foodanddri...

Re: lcboapi.com and drinkvine.com
You're welcome! Should be up now. Looks like the online inventory was down for a few days and I didn't notice. Please don't hesitate to let me know when this happens again. I just noticed that 3F Oude Geuze was listed recently. Bad timing for the scraper to go down. I hope some of you guys got some....

Re: lcboapi.com and drinkvine.com
Yep, it looks like the update changed a few things. The good news is that it should be faster (and easier) to scrape the online inventory now. The old site used ajax requests, now it's right on the product page. I'll see if I can update it tonight after the Leafs game, otherwise I'll fix it tomorrow...

Re: lcboapi.com and drinkvine.com
How's it implemented? Is it dockerized? Could we just toss it on AWS? Hi Craig, thanks for the idea. CaskHunter is a VPS with a LAMP server with an open source shopping cart frontend. The scraper is a combination of PHP, bash scripts, and ImageMagick. I didn't use docker because I feel that would b...
