Re: Ontario Brewing Awards 2021

While I do agree with a lot of what you're saying and generally find the OBA's to be not the best representation of quality in the province, Especially given the conspicuous absence of so many trendy/popular Ontario breweries I do question the last paragraph you wrote. I'm just curious if you've ta...

Re: Ontario Brewing Awards 2021

I tend to wonder how relevant these sorts of competitions are these days, especially with many breweries not entering and the sheer volume of beer that is released. With the democratization of information and opinions it seems that the formal critical role is increasingly replaced with community so...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Is anybody enjoying a great Hefeweizen right now, and who is selling it? Godspeed put their excellent Shirinami on hiatus this summer, I must have had over 50 of those last year. I love good proper Weissbier. But I hope to see the GS Kölsch! Had a really nice hefeweiss from common good brewing. Can...

Re: Best Traditional ON Craft Brews

All the Czech beers from Godspeed, Světlý Ležák 12° and 10°, Tmavý Ležák 12º are rock solid as previously mentioned. ESB and Munich dunkle are current personal favorites. Avling Foxtail Zwickelbier and pilsner are both really nice. Common Good Sociable pilsner is one one my favorites available at th...

Small Asheville Haul.

Just got back from Asheville. I've got a little bit of surplus I'd be down to trade for something equally interesting. All less than a month old. Some less then 2 weeks from packaging. All tall cans except the wicked week and the surf wax which are 355ml 1x Burial - surf wax 355ml 1x Burial+Other Ha...

Re: worst Ontario beer of 2015?

Blood brothers Shumei ipa. It was a horrible tannic astringent mess. Everything I've tried from them has been mediocre to downright awful. They really need to get their act together.

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases

Interesting, but hey...everyone is different. I've had 3 of their beer so far, and all have definitely been above average for their styles. Maybe I just got lucky and tried the right ones...but these comments are the first I've heard of people saying they weren't impressed. I didn't love the Asysto...

Re: Duggans and their beer

Interesting...and a bit strange. I like the Bomber more than many of their other beers, so I don't really care how/who makes it. just not sure why you'd advertise it as a Duggan beer if it is indeed just Cool at brewery strength. we get it that he's contracting out of Cool. But when your "brew...

Re: LCBO Autumn & Halloween/Oktoberfest Beer Releases 2015

This is pretty uninspiring especially after just coming back from a trip out west and enjoying everything BC and Alberta have to offer. I've yet to be impressed with any of the beers they've been bringing in from Denmark. I wish they'd stop take a break from those breweries.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Maybe almost right. http://www.theenterprisebulletin.com/2011/07/05/toronto-based-brewer-buys-thornbury-cidery It seems the operating group Beer Barons controls both brands. I was at Sauce on the Danforth and was told that Thornbury was going to be the branding going forward. Both companies are own...

Behemoth beer

Not sure if there are any metal fans on here but I found this pretty amusing. I'd try it. At least they went with an interesting style and not a generic euro style lager.
