Volo - wow!

Just a note of praise for Volo. My buddies and I get together regularly, and we meet up at a pub. Both as a relative newbie to micro/craft beer and as someone who lived in T.O. and now lives in the suburban wasteland, it's been fun for me to take my Toronto friends to places in the city that they've...

Thanks guys. I've checked out a lot of places from your posts. Seems like the challenge is to find good beer and a good menu/kitchen in the same place (for the people with me who don't share my growing passion for micro beers!).

I hope that wasn't the plaza which had the terrible fire 2 weeks ago!

Waterloo recommends?

Heading to Waterloo this weekend. Any recommended pubs for craft brews?

I did a keyword search in this forum, got some hits, but couldn't read the posts. Got an "access denied" message. :(

Beer Podcasts?

For those of you who never tire of beer discussions, have you subscribed to any of the beer podcasts on iTunes? There are at least 6, including The Beer Report, Craft Beer Radio, and Speaking of Beers.

Any faves?

... ... GAG ?? That's my reaction to those overcooked fruit monsters! But I'm trying to appreciate California Cabs.... Yeah...gag, or run screaming out of the room! I am completely familiar with the insane markups on wine applied by Toronto restauranteurs: some plonk @ $9.50 in the LCBO sell...

It's in this folder by mistake, I expect that mj meant to put it in the Beer Reviews folder.... Thanks, Greg. I did an LCBO search and found it at stores near me. Looking forward to trying it. On a side note, I'm envious of those of you who years ago discovered the delights of (micro-brewed) beer. ...

I received the Meantime IPA yesterday. My compliments to Roland & Russell for their great service. The positive reviews linked in the second post in this thread are quite accurate so I won't repeat them here. A highly enjoyable IPA and it will balance very well with a spicy main course.

...Okay, I think I'm done ranting. Well then, I'll pick up the rant! I'm not well informed on the details of the beer bottle deposit/return programme, but where do you take those non-standard bottles back for credit? The pub? The brewery? I stopped ranting a while back about overpriced badly roaste...

I guess the craft brewers looking at overnight-stay beer tourism have a bigger challenge than the winemakers. The wine guys can leverage their location at or near the vineyard, typically in an attractive countryside setting with nearby hotels and other attractions. Craft breweries can be located any...

Breweries offer Hands-on Tours

Hi all. My first post on The Bar Towel, and I hope it's in the right forum! Read an interesting article in the Sunday NY Times today. Craft breweries in the USA are moving into offering a deeper experience for beer lovers. With tie-ins to hotels and inns, hands-on "make it and drink it" we...
