Re: Buffalo NY - what to see and explore?

Thanks guys. Anybody know if there is any craft beer in the stadium itself?

Re: Grand River Brewing

Kind of sad that this brewery has faded into irrelevance. It was an important craft pioneer when it first opened, at least to me. The original Galt Knife was a terrific beer, Plowmans was a serviceable English pale ale, and Russian Gun has, at times, been an excellent imperial stout. Oh well.

Re: Buffalo NY - what to see and explore?

Hi guys: Going to a Bisons game in a couple of weeks with a fairly large group, not all of whom will be beer geeks. What do you recommend downtown / in the immediate vicinity of the stadium? Pearl Street? Pizza Plant? Anyone know if there is anything decent on tap at Anchor Bar? As I said this will ...

Re: Brunswick Bierworks

I went this weekend. Hours are, indeed, 11 - 5 on Saturdays, though I was told they plan to expand (probably to a Thursday through Sunday schedule) very soon. This weekend, for example, they were open both days for a special Masters promotion. The tasting room/pub is quite roomy with lots of communa...

Re: Tempranillo Spain

Terra d'Uro Finca La Rana Toro 2012 This is incredible. Grape 'blend' is 100% Tinta de Toro, AKA Tempranillo and this is a character wine that is still approachable. The light French oak toast evenly compliments the (not too sweet) ripe blackberry. A bit of black tea and herbs, mineral, great balan...

Re: Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)

Went there last night for the first time. They're serving 15 Oz pours for everything, and pricing them around eight bucks each. Eight bucks for a 4.2% local ale? No thanks. Regrettably, that is becoming the norm, at least here in the downtown area. Not just Bar Hop by any means. It reflects what th...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Fair enough. But why may a bourbon be a wheater, if a Canadian whisky (aka "rye") cannot? I get that you are using "rye" in a stricter context. In any event, I liked it.

As for "gross", I don't understand that comment at all. Please elaborate.

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Canadian Centennial Rye ($27) if you like a nice smooth Wheater.

Re: Bar Hop 2 (Peter St)

Don't know how long you've been there, but didn't Granite Brewery try a satellite space at Pape and Danforth for a little while, back in the day? Wonder if this is the same building?

Re: drinkvine update email

Ralphus - I love Drinkvine. Thank you for giving it to us. I originally subscribed with an e-mail address I no longer have access to. Is there a way for me to update my e-mail while preserving my settings and Drinks? If not, no biggie but thought I would ask.

Re: Bermuda

Just back from a week in Bermuda. It is not a destination you need to rush to for the beer, despite its British heritage. Frankly, the bar/restaurant scene reminded be a bit of Niagara-on-the-Lake ten years ago, if I had to sum it up. Nevertheless, if you find yourself there for other reasons, you m...

Re: Common Good Beer Co.

I went recently too. The Overhop hazy NE IPA is definitely the star of the show. Liked it better than the same-brand IIPA. I also like their generic brand Brown Ale, and the dry-hopped Pilsner was pretty decent as well.
