Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

... Nearly all Pumpkin ales taste OK to me, but some are dull. You really only taste the spice whether or not they add the squashes at all. I think it ferments out. I dunno, personally I've had some pumpkin ales that give off that vegetal cooked squash note. Sometimes if it's balanced I don't mind,...

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release

... I don’t hate the others, I just find getting through a serving a bit of a chore. Likewise chilli pepper beers. OK, now I sympathize with people who hate Pumpkin Ales. Why ruin an otherwise good ale with hot peppers? Or any food with formerly detectable flavor? Nearly all Pumpkin ales taste OK t...

Re: Dog Foord

I've also come to appreciate the public health value of price floors (yeah, me). Having traveled in jurisdictions with absurdly low prices and seen some of the cultural problems. Europe in particular, where drinking is culturally very accepted and cheep alcohol is seeing quite a lot of abuse.. It i...

Re: Collective Arts

That post was Jan '18 in reference to Feb '19? Regardless, would be smart for them to convert successful numbered brews to regular ones. To echo a comment made earlier, Collective Arts has been killer, but on a slow downhill since IPA 5... I'm sure some of that is seasonality and expansion outside ...

Frei Zinfandel 2015 Red

Frei Brothers Reserve Zinfandel 2015 Zinfandel/Petite Sirah In my dogged pursuit to try new wines here is something I'd rarely buy, a Red Zin from California on clearout price at Barrack Street, Kgtn store. Honestly for my liking this is fruity (Cherry-berry) jammy sweet and spicy, overall too simp...

Beronia Rioja 2015 Tempranillo This is very likable and worth a try! Very complete palate and tantalizing woody spice and dark berry of Tempranillo grape. Xinomavro means "acid black" in Greek

Domaine Karydas Xinomavro 2012 This is fantastic. Xino Red from Greece/Macedonia is slowly being discovered as a fairly serious wine for its price category and compared to some Barolo or Barbareso-style Piedmont wines. The time to take advantage is now. Here is a solid 2012, a vintage that is becom...
