Re: What're you drinking right now?

If you go into the bar right now, they have an upscaled yuzu IPA, which is basically just yuzu with more everything but water. Closest I've found to a yuzu bomb. Radical or Godspeed? Now having a Bellwoods 3 minutes to midnight barrel aged cherry imperial stout, excellent amazing stuff. I think I k...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Very interesting Bellwods brew, I don't at all mind the juicy-dry-sweet tangerine against the chocolate and dark malt backdrop. The acidic citrus note slightly competes with the natural dark malt roast and hop dryness, and the lingering citrus peel is slightly hop-like. The vanilla is back in there ...

Re: Burdock Rocks

Still some bottles of NOOM to be had at Burdock (Brett Peach Saison is alas all gone.) UPDATE - the NOOM is very good - it is somewhere between a cognac-aged chocolate cherry stout and a tart brett farmhouse ale. Very sippable and aromatic, way better in balance and layers than the super-sweet Sais...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Godspeed Kölsch, Smoked Pilsner and now the Peated Scotch Lager.

Also enjoyed the Rügner Witbier yesterday. Insel Kriede. It's nice!

Check out the paper wrapped bottle.

Sicilain Nero D'avola blend

Barone Montalto Nero D'Avola Cabernet Ter Sicilane IGT Here's a basic everyday Red which for the very affordable price does not have all the character ironed out of it, and retains some personality. Berries and herbs, some plummy fruit sweetness and a little acidity. Decent body and dryness, slight...

Silvaner Beerenauslese Schmitt '15

Schmitt Söhne Beerenauslese 2015 Silvaner Well now here's something - A style not quite like an Eiswein, one made with the white Silvaner grape of Franconia. Basically these grapes are picked ('selected berries') later than the general harvest and exhibit greater ripeness and concentration of flavo...

Tawse Quarry 2013 Chard VQA

Tawse Quarry Road Chardonnay 2013 Vinemount Ridge Here is an impressive barrel-fermented Ontario white behaving a bit like a northern Burgundy wine. The (American oak?) barrel is immediately evident with light coconut, toast and vanilla but not in a brash way, and there's some woody presence. The s...

Doppeling right now?

Höss Doppel-Hirsch Doppelbock Haandbukk Doppelbock Each quite different & great in its own way. Both quite dark-malty ('rich' is a good word for it) and each uses its own tricks in an attempt to balance out all that bready maltose. My favorites likely remain Weltenburger Asam-Bock and Andechser ...

What're you God or something right now?

* NEW * Godspeed Irori Peated Scotch Lager (yes, like a Scotch Ale only its not.) Smoky and sticky. Godspeed Oberkassel Altbier - even better than last year's, with fruity depth and black tea notes venturing into classic British Ale territory. * NEW * Godspeed Gokuresama Kölsch Style Ale - absolutel...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Cascade Brewing Manhattan NW. A little pricy at over $21 per 750ml bottle but worth the experience. A quad/ blond blend aged in bourbon barrels with cherry and apricot. Exceptionally sour. Yeah, those are discounted prices for the Apricot and Manhattan, so enjoy that!! A lot of us paid 6-7 bucks mo...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Yes, I notice that Luc (ex of Dieu du Ciel!! & now the master brewer at Godspeed) leans firmly away from excessive richness in his brews, I speculate because of how overdone the sweet Belgian strong / blonde / golden / Saison and even Stout seem to be in Québéc. I mean, it's really really easy t...

Time of the Saison

Godspeed HANABI Smoked Saison Brasserie Dupont Saison Both pretty amazing. I like the crisp dryness of the GS, and if course the BD has more roundness and fruit, especially since the bottle is young. If Dupont says BBD in 2020, that is the time when the beer is just getting interesting. Bottle condi...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Evil Twin Chili Hazelnut Biscotti Break Oddly interesting coffee stout, I think I'd really prefer a Péché Mortél or a Founders (Racist!!!) CBS. Honestly has a bit of a metallic quality at first (can has been in fridge for a while) and maybe that's the chilies - these are evident, with some roasty pe...

Godspeed IBUSHI Smoked Pilsner

Godspeed YUZU Saison flavoured with exotic citrus.
Didn't know the YUZU was so fanstastic, it's dry and tart with interesting flavors going on. Japanese citrus fruits flavour it.
