Patrick's Pick

I bought a bottle this week. My receipt said Elora ESB.

It tasted OK, but I won't be rushing back for more, not with the new releases waiting.

Too bad about Galeville Grocery. It's actually in Liverpool, a nice little town, just west of Syracuse. I visit Liverpool / Syracuse each year and if you're looking for good beer buys, there are a couple of alternatives: 1) Nichol's Grocery, right in the village of Liverpool, on 1st St, has a good s...

Discovered today, via LCBO Website, that this item has been discontinued.

Too bad. Too short a stay in our region.

Food and Drink Festival Hamilton Copps Coliseum

I went to this last night. Besides the food and wine, there was a great turnout from our Ontario craft brewers. Grand River; Pilsner, Lager, Stout Flying Monkeys; everything including Netherworld Railway City; Dead Elephant, Blonde, Copper Mill St; Tankhouse, Stock, and others Nickelbrook; Green App...

I think this thread should be under Beer Reviews. I've had this 3 times now and here are my observations about the beer and the price point. C'est What: Regular pint, $5.90 + taxes A very well made beer. Very hoppy and bitter. The 8% ABV shows, but just barely. Well Done Black Oak! Volo: Cask $6.95 ...

What a great beer :D
I like the Brutal Bitter, but this one is quite a bit better.
Wonderful aroma; grapefruit comes to mind. The taste is citrus, with pine on the back end. No sign of alcohol taste.
In my opinion, the hoppiest beer ever to hit the LCBO shelves.

Here's a 5 or 6 stop tour, easily done with a TTC Day Pass.
Start at C'est What, walk up to Beer Bistro.
TTC to Rebel House, Victory, & Volo.
Possible finish at the 3 Brewers ( since it is very new )

I spent a week in Pittsburgh; saw Crosby, Malkin & the Penguins 3 times. Now, have just returned from seeing the Leafs beat the Penguins and Steelers beat the Ravens. If you like Buffalo, you'll love Pittsburgh. In the Southside Flats: Fat Heads: 40 taps and amazing food. Smokin' Joe's: 60 taps ...

You don't have to go far for Ontario micros on tap.
Both the Baden Hotel and the Blue Moon ( Petersburg) have a great selection of Ontario micros ( from that part of the province ), as well as great food and a country pub atmosphere.

I prefer the ST over the DH, but they are both fine beers. Seems to be lots of DH available in Mississauga. Meadowvale has it cold for you. Does the DH remind anyone of the Tankhouse Ale when it first came out? This summer, I have had the good fortune of tasting Garrison IPA in Halifax , Corne du Di...
