Re: What're you drinking right now?

I'm scared to go out due to the miasma, so have been mostly hunkered down with home brew. However I did find something interesting in the old survival cellar on Saturday. One last bottle of Central City/Flying Monkeys Red on Red collaboration. I'm glad I bought a bunch back in the day, this really a...

Sorry, couldn't resist. At least it's a great gesture on their part.

So 355ML cans are too small, but drops are fine?

Re: Best Traditional ON Craft Brews

I really wish this thread would be longer. Especially with good continental lagers. Too few examples. I'll give a shout out to People's Pint for their Helles. I guess they kind of sort of qualify as a brewery. If it takes a community hub to make a decent Helles in this province, then I'll jus...

That reminds me, I appreciate Granite for making a dry Irish stout. So rare to get lower ABV stouts here.

Granite's Irish stout is easily my favorite example of this style!

Re: Worst Ontario Craft Breweries

With two caveats and based on my personal experience, I'm going to nominate Bandit. So the caveats: I've only been there four times and the last was at least a year ago They were pushing a lot of sours, not a style I like I'd say the biggest anecdotal strike against them was when I went there with f...

Re: Coronavirus

I am in Portugal and they have their first two suspected cases. The Canadians quarantined in Trenton are about twenty minutes from where I live. A nurse friend of mine mentioned that if any of them has a serious medical emergency quarantine may need to be broken. I’m not certain how that would work...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At Pearson Airport drinking a Henderson Brewing Company Union Pearson Ale, which is very good. Found it at the Smoke’s Poutine place at the far end of the lower level of Terminal 3. Good to know. I haven't really had anything from Henderson impress me, but there is that situation where the best thi...

Re: Sexism in beer labels in Ontario

I would also like to add. Many people in the brewing industry participate in this site. It might sound like privileged bitching (that would be a good beer name), but it's also feedback to these producers about what this community feels about respect and diversity. A little bit of free market researc...

Re: Sexism in beer labels in Ontario

Perhaps my perspective is somewhat formed by places I have visited/lived in, but I find this issue tedious, relatively meaningless and a very slippery slope for any consumer of anything. It's the moral indignation factor and how selectively it is applied that bothers me about this and other related...

Re: Peppered beers

I stopped in at Stonehooker in Port Credit on the weekend. They had close to 20 different beers in the cooler. :o One is Spicy Raspberry 2.0 Saison . The description on the can says: Our Steampunk Saison base has been kicked up a notch with delicious red raspberry and spicy Mexican chiles (sic) to ...

Re: Sexism in beer labels in Ontario

Different slant on the issue for Nine Locks Brewing in Nova Scotia. It's not the label that is the problem, but the beer name (Dirty Blonde) and marketing. I'm going to plant my ass on the fence regarding this one. I'm not sure how hair colour (or malt colour) has to be viewed as sexist. But I'm gu...
