Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Anyone know if/when the Ossington brewpub will be pouring this year's BOYD? Always fun to compare keg and bottle variants. They were pouring it last night. At Ossington? I don't see it listed as pouring at Ossington on their website. I know Hafis has it pouring, but I'm a downtown dweller and defin...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Skeleton Key is good, but I am going to sit that one out. Walked out with the full allotment of 12 BOYD and need to show some restraint. It's a matter of personal preference but for me BOYD is the unquestionable king. I'm a brandy/cognac drinker and imperial stout might be my favourite beer style so...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

If BOYD is indeed released next weekend, it coincides with the BCBS release at the LCBO and Double Tempest Day at Amsterdam. I wish these events could be more staggered.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Bellwood is dropping hints on their Instagram about the upcoming return of BOYD, but nothing concrete. Anyone have some inside intel on the timing of the release?

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Also, Innis & Gunn Vanishing Point imperial stout is listed, but no stock yet. http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/innis-gunn-vanishing-point/519330#.WgMRQ2eWwuQ Kind of disappointing that this one is aged in bourbon barrels. There's no shortage of bourbon barrel-aged imperial stouts available in ...

Re: Grain & Grit

Interesting. I have not yet cracked one of my cans, but will report back once I do. Again, I had a positive experience with their beers on tap. I did not have the pineapple rye PA so can't really comment. Not sure that one would be my style even if executed properly.

Re: Grain & Grit

If you're in the area to check out Fairweather, you'd be remiss no skip nearby Grain & Grit. :) Ha! No kidding! I checked them out on Google Maps....they're only 2 minutes apart.... walking ! Edit: Just read your note in the Fairweather thread saying the same . Neither website says much. G&...

Grain & Grit

If you're in the area to check out Fairweather, you'd be remiss no skip nearby Grain & Grit. I actually like the beers I had at Grain & Grit a little better than Fairweather and look forward to seeing what they produce going forward. I tried their Bob's Best Bitter, Citrus Saison and Breakfa...

Re: Fairweather Brewing

I did have the chance to pop by Fairweather last weekend near my old stomping grounds at McMaster. It's a nice bright space, very inviting. I would agree that the Swoon farmhouse with Montmorency cherries had very little cherry presence. There was a fair amount of oak though which I found a bit off ...

Re: Fairweather Brewing

I think there was a thread Fairweather going already; perhaps a moderator could consolidate? I am hoping to drop by this weekend and check them out as well as Grain & Grit. Unfortunately, I'll be driving so I won't really have a chance to delve deep but can hopefully sample a few offerings and w...

Re: Cask Days 2017

Some thoughts on Friday evening session: - I don't think the early access is worthwhile any longer. It used to be a very laid back hour but it was already rammed by 7:15 - the lounge ticket was worth it IMO. You could always get a seat and get away from the noise, and they provided a path to the re...

Re: Cask Days 2017

In the past they held back beer. Didn't do that this time. They've gone back and forth on this. This year there were about a dozen casks on the lists which were to be tapped on Saturday. However, I was able to get pours on Friday. I've been to the Saturday sessions before and it's always slim picki...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At Saint-houblon: Le Bibloquet Mackroken Flower Scotch Ale I discovered Saint-Houblon last year - just a stone's throw south on Rue Saint-Denis from Saint-Bock. 24 (almost) exclusively Quebec micro taps (one lonely Beau's offering for variety); it's a less deep and less interesting menu overall than...
