Re: LCBO Spring Craft Beer Release 2016

Wonder why they have the cuvee rene marked at $6.95 on their list.. it is $4.95 at the store. Might want to take advantage while we can.. with "distribution" limited to 5 downtown Toronto stores, one Ottawa, and one Welland store, not many will be able to "take advantage"

4500 cans at retail ($5), 10,000 bombers shipped to LCBO ($8.95). Coming very soon, maybe this week.

4 bucks for an extra 175ml, that's pretty expensive glass :o
... but cheaper than driving to Etobicokee, so I'll get them from the control board :D

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

think that bakagaijin and portwood should start a drinking group. never thought i'd find 2 people more miserable than me. quite a relief to find them, actually! where's the "like" button? fear not, whenever you think you're the most "____" person in the world, there's always som...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Got some lake effect ipa at the lcbo today canned feb 8th. Is this a regular listing? No .I read the other day they just canned the last batch for this years Lake Effect. I'm thinking of buying a few to drink in the summer (perhaps longer). Looking for recommendations as to how long the Lake Effect...

Unless you're the owner, why get worked up over someone else not being a fanboy of your favorite brewery?

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

was in my old neighborhood tonight for a whisky tasting at The Caledonian. Decided to walk down Ossington to burn some calories and pick up some overpriced beer, 'cause that's what geeks do: 1 Witchshark 1 Hellwoods 2 Roman Candle 25 bucks and change ... Bellwoods: "the Ardbeg of beer" (de...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

A strong hop presence would have made this beer so much more complex. Maybe so, but regular Molson drinkers* would probably be disgusted by the bitterness that would result from that complexity. My guess is most line extensions are aimed at regular drinkers of a brand's main offerings, looking for ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I ended up with a 4 pack of Aphro last night rather then the John H.r.molson & Bros 1908. It was good but I'd go with the Bolshevik Bastard over the Aphro any day. Could it be the 5 month old Aphrodite (thanks to KGBO's 19th century distribution "system") isn't very fresh compared to ...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

^^^^ That post was from California. I assume they are both there for the RateBeer awards. Bellwood's and Trillium were both named Top 100 brewers in the world. http://www.ratebeer.com/RateBeerBest/BestBrewers-World2016.asp yet someone won't drive down from Markham because their beer's not worth it....

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Yeah the Trillium folks also posted a photo of their Ratebeer badge so it's probably for that. I've never even heard of Bellwoods but it seems to be the most popular thread on the Bar towel. I'm rarely in Toronto these days. Do they have anything at the LCBO/TBS or bars outside of TO? No LCBO / TBS...

Lagunitas IPA was bottled Jan 11, 2016. From Fresh Beer Only... Lagunitas: Uses a bottling date. Julian date code which is written in black on the neck of the bottle. There are 2 lines. First line has 3 digits followed by a space, then one more digit. The first three digits represent the day of the...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Glad to see arguing over the merits of one BRAND vs another are no different in the beer community compared to the whisky community. Beer is no different than any other BRAND in the economy. Pricing often has nothing to do with costs of production but with what fans of the brand are willing to pay c...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

some of these posts are ridiculous. absolutely ridiculous. first, not to pick on you, portwood, but if you're driving out from Markham, didn't you know what to expect beer-wise (or even price-wise) before you came? why wouldn't you go there any time soon? i live in the east end and, in the past mon...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

absolutely baffled as to why there's still bottles of this left at the shop Twelve bucks per 500 ml might have something to do with it. My thoughts exactly. For a brewery who's products have extremely limited reach (zero distribution) its difficult to expect locals to keep buying multiple bottles o...
