Re: What're you drinking right now?

In monteverde, Costa Rica I have stumbled across a delicious tropical stout from Cervezas Artisnales Belmar called Nubosa. Normally, i find stouts a bit boring but this one is an exception. It has notes of brown sugar, fig, plum, and coffee. Lots of esters make this stout complex. If you find yours...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Currently, I am drinking my last 3 Fontanien Armand & Tommy Gueze from the LCBO three years ago to celebrate a new job. It is absolutely delicious. five out of five stars for complexity. Also, recently I had Bellwoods X Evil Twin Fruit Helmet. 4.5 stars. Strong fruit (passion fruit, guava, raspb...

Re: Fullers VINTAGE Ale * Series *

After reading comments on this thread, I decided to try a Fullers Vintage Ale myself (2017). I am impressed. The yeast strain has produced a lot of subtle estery complexity that I really appreciate. I've never understood the trend towards clean California ale yeasts that let the beer focus on hops. ...

Bellwoods X Pen Druid Ligo

Ligo is a Wild Virginia Farmhouse Ale. It pours a straw golden colour like a pilsener. It's taste/aroma has a slightly harsh phenolic and spicy element, which is balance by the silky smooth oats grain. There is a resinous piney flavour, which is usually attributed to hops. In this case, I think it i...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

This week I have tried the following; Nickelbrook Wet Hop Pale Ale - maybe it's the hop bombs I've been drinking lately, but this year's batch seems to be more subtle than before. Still, it is a nice flavour of Ontario hops. Last year, I remember buying too much of this beer, and it went bad (flavou...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I'm the other way around. I always thought that GLB was good but overrated, with the exception of Karma Citra, which is stellar. Headstock ranges from very good to amazing, depending on the batch. To each his own.

Re: Saturation? Maverick Brewing

This brewpub is now open to the public. Since I live a few minutes away, I went last night for dinner. The food was good. You could really smell the malt in the brewpub. I had a sample flight of four beers: Lager, Hefeweizen, Gosezilla, and First Day IPA. The lager reminded me of Creemore, but a bi...

Re: Saturation? Maverick Brewing

FWIW, the First Day IPA was originally going to be an APA, but there was a mix up with the hop measurements and it came out an IPA. I hope they continue to hop this aggressively, and that it is not an anomaly.
