Bar Hop King vs. Bar Hop Brewco...

OK GTA beer enthusiasts. I’m in The Big Smoke for one day in a couple of weeks. Lots to do, choices to make. Same, same with these two or a clear reason to pick one? Shoot. Please and thanks.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

At the Orkney Island Brewey, I was able to sample some real ales including a outstanding bitter, and a very good Dark Island ale. It has been something like 20 years since the Lcbo carried Orkney's brews, but I remember enjoying them then. Right now I am thoroughly enjoying a tasty Drk Isld Rsrv. T...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Ransack the Universe, which along with Life In the Clouds have become my absolute go to summer IPA's. I would say that about 75% of my Ontario brewery summer beer money has gone to Collective Arts. I believe they have created significant separation from the vast majority of breweries in this province.

Re: Downtown Toronto LCBO’s

Thanks all for the replies. I've just done an online order but do so enjoy the physical process of looking through a store. I'll likely hit Summerhill, and since I plan on going to Bellwoods, probably the one out there as well.

I'm heading here with some mates next weekend. Might be worth a trip for you GTA folk, as it's only about three hours.

Downtown Toronto LCBO’s

Hey all: Due to five years out of the country, I’m out of the loop regarding selection at various LCBO’s. Will be in town on August 18th for the day. Is Summerhill the best bet for quality selection, or is there a better option within the area between Eglinton and Front and a few blocks in either di...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Boneshaker. The various Collective Arts IPA and DIPA offerings over the past year caused me to take my eye off this one. Still, a solid, go to IPA

Collective Arts Berliner Weisse. The advertised lime and ginger are certainly present. Very tart and refreshing.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Ta Plus Meilleure double NEIPA with peach and passion fruit. After five days in Quebec, it's easy for me to say that for overall quality Quebec is still ahead of Ontario, as IMO has been the case since I began regularly sampling beers from both provinces many years ago. The quality in Quebec, howeve...

Re: Doug Ford

Doug Ford as Premier doesn't scare me as much as the hydro bills I've received since returning from five years out of the country. She's as dead as the raccoon I saw on the side of the road this morning.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Currently drinking Life In the Clouds, from Collective Arts. It's excellent, as I've come to expect from anything IPA related done by this brewery. The real find today, however, is the previously drank Mash Up the Jam dry hopped sour from them, which is exceptional. These people continue to up their...

Not an Ontario event but I'm quite excited to return to Montreal after several years due my previous expatriate status. Aside from the usual Canadian suspects, I'm looking forward to Three Floyds, Nogne O, Crooked Stave, and Jester King, with a visit to Dieu du Ciel and Peluso thrown in for good mea...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Prairie Artisan Ales Paradise Imperial Stout I love vanilla flavour in general, but usually not so much in beer. This is an exception. A good imperial stout with a strong vanilla flavour. That said, the 12 US oz bottle is more than enough, especially at 13% alc. If you haven't had the opportunity, ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Ransack The Universe, which has become my go to beer recently. Unfortunately, it's my last for a while, as I was just diagnosed with IBS. My gastro specialist wants me on something called a FODMAP diet for at least a month, which apparently frowns on the consumption of beer. Surely this is the way t...
