Re: What're you drinking right now?

Like a couple of others in the last day or so I am having the 2017 St. Ambroise RIS. I like it now because I enjoy some raunch and roughness in my RIS's, but I can also understand why some might be initially put off. I only bought four, but will likely pick up a few more tomorrow and let most of the...

Re: LCBO Winter Release 2017

I noticed Ten Fidy is available in only nine stores. Does anyone know if it's just rolling in, or if it's wrapping up?

None has made it my way.

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...

Actually, I have encountered one Ontario tripel since my return, as I have a bottle of Beau's New Lang Syne tucked away for the holidays.

I also just uncovered four 750ml cork and caged bottles of St. B. 12 that have also been resting for five years. They were in a different box, so I missed them the first time through.

Yet, beer above this threshold is permitted for sale in the province, as Samichlaus, which clocks in at 14%, was part of the winter release and has been here in the past as well. As an aside, I'd like another crack at Sami, as the first time I tried it many, many years ago proved not to be enjoyable...

Re: "Peak" Craft Beer?

The article is OK and reflects something I have been thinking about since returning to Canada. I glossed over the comments and some were unintentionally hilarious. I found the Western Profs comments a bit misleading, as while he was happy to point out that many breweries offer fifty or more beers, i...

Holiday supplies...

Just curious about what people are drinking over the coming holidays, as the Christmas/New Year period has long been one where I enjoy some quality beers. Here's some of what I have laid in for the festive season. Amager Rye King Oud Beersel Oude Geuze Vieille Halcyon Barrel House Infinity Mirror Go...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

A great day for yours truly at the LCBO as my local store in Belleville has just received Nickel Brook Cuvee Reserve 2017, New Holland Dragon's Milk Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout, and last, but certainly not least, Boulevard Brewing Bourbon Barrel Quad 2016. I'm very excited about the Boulevard offering...

Collective Arts Imperial Porter. Extremely dark, good head, quite creamy and delicious. I have really fallen in love with this brewery since returning to Canada at the end of August.

I'll second the thought of El Pinguino on the quality of Karmeliet, ranking it behind only Fin du Monde and Westmalle as my favourites. Kasteel would be the one I consider most underrated.

Left Field Bricks & Mortar Coffee Porter. Only my second beer from this brewery after Laser Show a few day ago. So far I'm impressed. I have a Sunlight Park Saison waiting for another day, although I understand the reviews are not as good as the other two.

Re: Beer in Grocery Stores

I have been in the Metro here in Belleville a few times for beer. The selection is quite good, although nothing particularly exotic. Boneshaker is usually what I pick up. They do seem to be doing a fairly brisk wine and beer business, however, which is not surprising given the relative locations of ...

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

Well, I contacted the LCBO regarding the packing pellets and they are in fact completely biodegradable in water, as a previous poster suggested.

That makes me feel much better and means I can make future orders without hesitation. My wife will be "thrilled."

Incredible growth. Too much...or OK?

The other day I was in a place called The Brake Room in Belleville. Cool place. They do coffee, sandwiches, craft beer, and bike sales and repairs. Anyway, they had this map called Bay of Quinte Craft, so I grabbed a copy. There are currently nineteen beer/cider companies in the Quinte region, which...
