We can hope jaymack. Unfortunately, some of the comments on thestar give you a peek into the widespread ignorance we're actually dealing with. True, there were lots of uninformed opinions and ignorance in those comments. However, the beautiful thing about petitions is if you don't agree with it, yo...

This is one great beer. Perfectly balanced. Fantastic malt that alternates between granier flavours and your standard caramel and honey flavours. Interwoven perfectly with the hops... what hops are we talking about here? I can't quite place them, very aromatic but whatever is used for the bittering...

Okay, the LCBO is unionized and a monopoloy, so what? Lazy assed unionized employes are such a cliched stereotype (I am not unioized either, so I have no personal adgenda here). Is every non-unionized person in the work place friendly and do they make an effort to "go the extra mile"? Hard...

Got to finally try the ST IPA tonight. I'm a hop head like a lot of others on here, so I should have loved this beer. Everything about it was certinaly passable but the mouthfeel turned me off a little......good and resiny, a litlte dry, but much thinner than I expected for a 6% and absolutely no ca...

[quote="detritus" Church-key? Probably not that many, seeing as their distribution is pretty limited. But I'd bet a pretty big chunk of that demographic have had a Steam Whitsle, or a Wellington, or a Denisons, etc. ... -Josh[/quote] Fair enough. Steam Whistle and Wellington, you are proba...

What was the selection of Canadian brew like? I remember being able to buy so many brands out there that were not available in the east... Obviously the entire line of Big Rock Alley Kat Yukon Granville Island Tin Whistle Maybe not a larger selection than Ontario but certainly a different bunch of ...

Re: Nat. Post: No beer in Ontario corner stores any time soo

In fact, the only US microbrew I came across were Rogue, Anchor, Brooklyn, Lost Coast and Lagunitas. This selection is much better than I recall when I was last back last, 3 years ago.....but this is a dozen or so years after privatization and the only US micros I can get in Calgary are still Rogue...

Re: Nat. Post: No beer in Ontario corner stores any time soo

As an inside source, and based on what I have seen in videos and LCBO training books, I can say that according to the LCBO, customer satisfaction is at an all time high, at over 81%. This is quite high, and it is only going up. Veal calves born & raised in a dark dirty stall their whole life mi...

Taking advantage of privatized liquor stores in Alberta tonight. Started with a Wild Rose Velvet Fog, followed by a Nelson Paddywhack IPA, Ayinger Ur-Weisse and a Lost Coast 8 Ball stout.

I'm in Calgary for the weekend and I was doing a little beer shopping when I ran across Alberta's version of Ephemere Apple. Of course there was no additional add-on sticker. Aparantly Albertan's are smarter, or have better eyesight, or don't need extra advertizing to drink funny beers. Huh. Well wh...

For me this IPA disappears 200% faster than Anchor Steam, 850% faster than Sam Adams Summer Ale, and almost as fast as Grolsch Weizen. In fact, do can yourself a favor and buy a few sixes at once -- by my calculations this will save time, gas and running out of yummy hop goodness... I really wish I...

Saw the Ephemere Apple for the first time today. If had a nifty little green add-on sticker bellow the label that read "Beer with Apple". Good thing too, as I couldn't tell from the picture of apples on the original lable, or the words "apple" and "pomme" also on the la...

Distribution in Ontario?

I'm a little confused about how LCBO stock get distributed in Ontario. Maybe someone here can help educate me a little. Southern Tier has yet to hit my local in Hamilton, despite it's wide availability in other places days ago (and I'm trying my best not to be grumpy about it). On the other hand, Ha...

Bytowner: Any recommendations for a good British IPA? I tired the Greene King tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Not a world-beater, but under-rated on RB in m opinion. If this is a poor version, I'd love to get my hands on a "good" British IPA. I'll generally take a Cascady-Chinooky Am...

No acid. Seriously picked up a 6 of Dead Guy. It was the only one on the shelves at the Dundurn LCBO in Hamilton at about 5:30pm and there was no shelf lable. $13.95 just like the American Craft Beer booklet says. Item #00080150. Surprized the hell out of me as I checked the website for both ST and ...
