Full disclosure: My wife is the brand manager for Growers cider. That being said, I've personally had friends over for a blind tasting of ciders, and the Growers 1927 has consistently beaten out the competition (williams, strongbow, magners, etc). It's an english dry cider available at the LCBO and ...

You're at 71.4% attenuation (50 of the available 70 gravity points have been fermented). That's in the range of most ale yeasts, and since it hasn't moved in 3 days, it's probably done (and the yeast did a fine job). http://www.whitelabs.com/beer/homebrew_strains.html#ALE_YEAST So, I would dry hop ...

Cutting the top off of kegs

Has anyone had their kegs plasma cut? If so, where?

Or does everyone just resort to the old grinding/cutting wheel?

I don't know if the brewhouse is new or used but i can definitely confirm that these are Toronto guys setting up shop in Toronto. There are a bunch of equipment manufacturers out there, but also consider how many breweries are expanding (not going out of business!), and are selling their old brewhou...

I had Luke's berlinner weiss at the iron brewer competition in November. It was awesome and he says they'll be making it at the brewpub.

I've found goodwill and value village to be great resources for branded glassware. Of course it will be hit or miss for tulips specifically, but they usually have a good selection and at cheap prices.

They liked it actually. It was hand bottled after my work term was done. I was hoping to get 3 cases of it, but when I eventually got around to pick them up I only got one case because different people on the team kept taking a 6 pack of it..... fyi, If anyone is lucky enough to go to a leafs game y...

It's a 10hl brewhouse, it's been there since the ACC opened, and it's definitely used! In fact I had a summer work term there this summer (I'm in the Niagara College brew program). It's treated as a show piece brewery so they polish it weekly. I was actually allowed to brew up my own recipe at the ...

I heard somewhere that they are doing test brews in some 'brewpub' setup at the Air Canada Centre. I don't waste my time on pro-sports entertainment, so I haven't been in there in ages, but it sounds like an interesting marketing idea. Has anybody checked it out? maybe in the Rickards "Brewhou...

When I started in the program last year I wanted to keep a running journal, but by two posts I realized I'm not the daily bloging type. It's definitely going to help you reinforce concepts that you learned that day by having to explain it to everyone else. It will also be funny to look back on when ...

We aren't using BJCP categories though, we are using CBA categories which separated the two. I'm not going to give Garrison a pass anymore than Alexander Keith's. Yes I know, categories 16a and 16c. Was just trying to point out some similarities in the two styles. CBA does use bjcp style guidelines...
