For me, the porter is awesome. I was actually concerned that it couldn't possibly live up to my expectations but it did. Better than the deschutes IMO, harder to compare to the nutcracker with the cinnamon element, which is excellent also. Creamy, rich chocolatey malted milk flavour with minimal bit...

Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate stout---let me preface this by saying that i generally like (and used to love) SM beers; the imp stout, the oatmeal stout, taddy porter and even the nut brown. This beer is TOO SWEET. The addition of cane sugar was totally unnecessary IMO. Honestly, I could hardly fini...

The pale ale doesn't have the best ratings on RB but I grabbed one six anyway; it'll be interesting to compare it to Rhyme which I already have on hand.

Thanks for the pics; total novelty item but I could get right into this, especially at work and on the drive home--actually I'd be wondering about the surprise all day long. Where's the lcbo on this?

I seem to remember some controversy around this beer when it first appeared a couple of years ago; if I recall correctly there were a number of us who found a distinct and unexpected tartness that seemed out of place. I think some thought they had a bad batch, others thought it was just part of the ...

This calendar sounds fascinating ... I am trying to picture it--- a 12 pack where each beer is individually sealed off so you have no idea what you're opening each day, and the whole thing sitting in your fridge?? A pic would be really cool.

Shipyard ipa

Yuck. As mentioned on another thread by cratez, I agree the flavours are Not integrated and IMO are not good, with some caramel (I think?)upfront which abruptly chages to a hoppy flavour but with a strange aftertaste underlying the expected ipa bitterness---I had to drain pour the last inch or so---...

I'm on numero 3 from my sixer right now and I have to agree with Jeff; this beer is all about hop flavour, bitterness is more an afterthought.

Yeah, I don't think I'd go out of my way to get it either, especially if Neighbour or Canuck were sitting there in front of me at whichever LCBO I happened to be at. However, I do think this beer is a good interchangeable option for Neighbour, which I really enjoy, but don't often go out of my way f...

Well, you guys convinced me to give it a try and I'm glad; it's exactly as described above. Not as bitter as Neighbour, a little heavier body and a touch sweeter; a great pale ale alternative. Our quality local options just keep expanding. Next we need some good local unflavoured porter options...
