West Flanders trip

I'll be visiting Bruges next month and also I'll try to cover as much as possible of the West Flanders. I have Westvleteren on my list - I know there is no access inside but I am planning to return with two cases of Westy12 and would also like to taste their beers at that cafe close to the abbey.Any...

I am not even sure why this discusssion is taking place. Most of the Ontario ales are NOT american style. They use different hop combinations, as you said they are generally lower in alcohol. As for quality comparison, it's a matter of preference. I tried every single Ontario beer and every time I e...

On the same note Peter, is there a chance we will see Stone Brewing products (e.g. Ruination IPA, Double Bastard, ...) in Ontario? I am tired of explaining myself at the customs everytime I return from states with a case of those.

Mojo IPA

Brilliant effort from the guys at Rockies Brewing Boulder Colorado. Agressively hopped with Centennial and Amarillo that leads to a 70IBU that is ovious at the first sip, then makes way to a citrusy sweetness that keeps till the end. I just had it on tap at Anam Cara in Boston and loved it.

How about us then? What avenue are we supposed to use? I guess if we don't like it, we should go to the competition, aka the beer store and choose from what is "perhaps the best selection of beer in the world " :-? .

I've been to both Sunset Bar and Grill and Anam Cara and I think these are a must try if you are in the area. I personally liked Anam Cara better because of the large number of belgian and west coast IPAs on tap. They both have websites. Anam Cara website lists their tap selection and the bottles th...

You can check the beer store site www.thebeerstore.ca for distribution. Apparently there are quite a few stores in the Guelph area that carry Blanche de Chambly

Beergeek, Sierra Nevada is a pale ale not a india pale ale. There is a difference. Personally I think Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is probably the best pale ale on the West Coast.

Been there last week. The place looks really good after the renovation. They have Mill Street Pale Ale and some other loacal brews on tap, nothing special. You would expect to see at least one belgian style ale on tap (Maudite, La Chouffe or such) but not here. I asked for Sgt. Major, they said they...

The prices in Alberta are no lower than here. Maybe that's true for some of the local micros. The imports are definitely higher priced. I've traveled most of North America and Canada and as a beer drinker I have to say I am pleased how much I can get for my dollar in Ontario LCBO.
