When you guys go to Premiere Gourmet, do you just do a day trip and declare everything and pay tax/duty? Or do you usually go down and stay over night in NY? I've done three day trips and always declare the beer. First time i was let through with no fees, second time I paid tax/duty. Third time I p...

Ever since I got my new brew kettle, I've been getting lower efficiency. I also struggle to get a real rolling boil, just because the larger pot holds more liquid and my pos stove just can't keep up. I think for next time I'll have to shell out for a proper burner. That would probably make the wife ...

The other thing is even if they only get trial drinkers who don't do a lot of repeat business, NY is a state with 20 million people in it. That could still translate into a pretty big/successful expansion for them.

I bottled a black IPA, a third of which got Brett in the secondary last night. I messed up the hops, so it's not as bitter as it should be, but I think that will actually work with the Brett nicely.

Next weekend I'll bottle the IS that's sitting on chocolate and vanilla right now.

Oddly enough it was listed a couple of weeks ago, but has since been taken down.

For whatever it's worth, the GLB retail store is significantly harder for me to get to than an LCBO. It's only accessible to people with cars who are willing to drive, which eliminates a lot of potential customers. that second part is not exactly true... it's certainly harder to get to than your lo...

That would be some bullshit. It's already available to that market, why waste the listing? they have to deliver their own product. why would they drive all over the province instead of driving all around one city? Seems fairly obvious: To sell to people not located in/around TO. That's probably why...

Why is this one getting the whole dog and pony show, where the 2012 oak aged barley wine had a relatively quiet release?

I don't know how they package them (might be pickled or something), but these guys have spruce tips:

They don't have a physical store, but their mailing address is on the Danforth, so I'm pretty sure they're local.

Just to put me in a strange synchrony with the last two, I had a Deus before midnight, then an Amsterdam sour cherry after.

I have 3 deus left. I don't love them, but they may well turn into my new years brew just for the bubbles.

I don't know why people are so down on KZOO, it was a nice enough town. Cabs were a little odd (no meters? Do the cabbies just make up numbers?) but it was worth it for Bell's alone. Good tip on Greenbush, we stopped in and had a blast. Here's the haul I got back over the border: Dark Horse Beer is ...
