Re: The Blue Monk to close :(
Ahhhh, bummer. Thin Man will be awesome, Colter Bay will be interesting. The Blue Monk was a great venue and will be missed, but Shatzel can't be stopped!

Re: What're you drinking right now?
I enjoyed a thoroughly tasty weekend thanks to fellow member Boney! Friday was an outstanding can of Hopslam, which I forgot was 10% and had me wondering why I was feeling so sleepy when I finished... Saturday was another bright DIPA called Rico Sauvin from Against the Grain, love those hops! Cheer...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
Yeah. I can see all those reasons.....regularity, novelty, and beer characteristics. As for the spiced impy rum barrel of Skeleton Key, I can totally see the spice turning some off. I didn't mind it at all last year and I like Rum barrel aged beers, so I was excited for this release. I totally get h...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
While TO certainly has an embarrassment of craft beer riches compared to 5 years ago, agree, there's nothing with the same mix of great beer, location and atmosphere that Bellwoods has. When Rotate This moves into Ossington, that's going to be one expressive street (not commenting on cost, but how ...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
OK, well yes, I do indeed inderstand the context of the discussion. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my comments. Let me clarify. I really enjoy having good discussions about beer. That's why I'm social at the pub and post things on various beer forums. What I don't understand is why some people get...

^^^ Agree with all of your benefits/detriments in principle, but I would still say opinions are just opinions. There can be well informed, insightful opinions or baseless opinions said simply to get a rise. I think most reasonable people can sort them out pretty easily. Most things that do get debat...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
So Portwood went to a brewery he doesnt care for to spend too much money on beer he knew going in he would find overpriced? Bingo. Reminds me of the two "winners" on untappd who continue to drink Bellwoods beers and crap all over them for having some of that "Bellwoods character"...

Re: The Exchange Brewery
Made it out last weekend and was really impressed. Between my wife and I, we sampled all 7 of their offerings on tap. All were good to very good examples of their sytles. They also had a cask IPA that, frankly, was better than any of the cask IPA's I've had at cask days. Importantly, nothing I've tr...
