Re: Who makes a good porter?
Lake of Bays Mocha Porter. Good stuff, a little pricey. I wish we had a solid local porter available in six packs. I think you can get this a TBS now.

Re: Beer Coming to Grocery Stores?
There is an overwhelming amount of stupid in how the government is rolling this out The early story from the Star (http://on.thestar.com/1KzDRMF) quoted an anonymous senior gov't source saying: "Nobody thought you could get this agreement with the beer guys.” Really? Who is in charge here? Sti...

Beau's Haters Gonna Hate - Nelson Sauvin hops shine. This redeemed the 4-pack for me, after the disappointing gose.
Schneider Mathilda Soleil Summer Weisse - Drinking very well despite the late season arrival. Worth picking up for the last days of summer.

Re: Crossroads (Weston & 401) clearance section
Thanks for the heads up. Picked up the Porter while passing by. It seems to be at its regular price at almost $10. Unlike the Dopplebock there is no clearance sticker price on them and the staff were able to scan them like any other bottle in the system. The date on the label indicates 2011, buy th...

Re: Crossroads (Weston & 401) clearance section
Passed by last night and there's about a dozen cases of LTM Dopplebock (bottled Sept 2014) 750ml for $6.75 each. Also many more cases of Porter Baltique.

A can of Thornbury Pickup Truck Pilsner, on sale at the LCBO. This is the rebranded King Pils. I liked the old branding better but this tastes just how I remember it. And these cans are fresh, stamped 5224. Using my code deciphering skills: 5=2015 and 224 = 224th day of the year (Aug. 12).

Re: Crossroads (Weston & 401) clearance section
There's about 2.5 cases of LTM Porter Baltique (750 ml) priced at $6.75 each. Bottled August 2014. It still scans at $9.99 so make sure you get it for the clearance price.
There also a bunch of TDD Sang-d’Encre from Oct 2014 for about $3.50 if I recall correctly.

Re: Mascot Brewery
Yeah the keg "deal" is insulting. Didn't see anyone ordering that. Pints were probably 16 oz and $8, not outrageous considering the location.DeMarco wrote:130 bucks for just over 10 pints?

Mascot Brewery
I was surprised when a friend mentioned this place to me: a brewery in Toronto I hadn't heard of?! It turns out this is not really a brewery, but a rooftop patio that contract brews some house beers. The location is great for a sunny day, after work, before/after a Jays game. They have a decent draf...

I popped my last Calabaza in May and I thought it was somewhat muted. Still tasty, but less sour than I remember it being a year earlier.

Re: LCBO Summer Craft Beer Release 2015
bottled Jan 21, 2015 Best by 22/04/2016. Where did you see that bottling date? The bottles I picked up have the same BB date (22/04/2016) with the following code written above it on the neck: L042215. I translated that to mean it was bottled 04.22.15 (one year prior to the BB date), and thus only t...

Re: LCBO Autumn & Halloween/Oktoberfest Beer Releases 2015
I really enjoyed the porters from last year's autumn release (Anchor, Smuttynose, Acadia). This release a little light. It will be good on my wallet at least.
