Re: Winter Brewfest
Any word on the beer list? I'm sure the Ontario beers will be similar to what's available at any one of a number of similar festivals, but the beers from Quebec have piqued my interest (or is this an Ottawa-specific phenomenon not likely to carry over to the TO event?)

Thanks. It's been a while since I've had this and I've been meaning to pick some up - I'll keep an eye out for the relatively fresh bottles.AugustusRex wrote: Schlenkerla Marzen is out dated 10/2016, so it was brewed sometime in October.

'Tis the season for imperial stouts! Last night at Volo:
Bolshevik Bastard
Peche Mortel (on nitro)
Blood of Cthulhu
All excellent in their own way! And because stouts are so luscious on nitro (and because I might have slight drinking problem...) an Aphrodisiaque for "dessert".

That would be convenient as I will be driving through TO that day. What's the best route from the 401 (heading west) ? Not sure if it is the best route, but I would get off at the Bathurst exit, take Wilson over to Bathurst. Head south on Bathurst to Davenport and turn right. Take Davenport to Ossi...

Re:
Viven Porter - Belgium - very good! Smokey malts flavor and kind of funky molasses malty aroma. This would kick some ass in a Belgian beef stew as well, with oodles of caramelized onions and garlic and thyme, AKA 'Carbonnade.' You should try it, so good. Agreed! Almost a cross between a porter and ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
It really is a shame that Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw isn't returning. It has been one of the highlights of recent Christmas releases. I was looking to do a vertical with some friends one of these years after adding a few more vintages. Oh well. Slightly off topic but has anyone ever tried the Cuvee V...

BIG RIG WINTER COPPERBOCK LCBO 443408 | 473 mL can Price: $ 2.75 Does anyone know if this is this the same beer as Big Rig's Bock Me Gently that appeared at Cask Days? Confirmed it at least has the same name, it's in stock at a few places now (picked it up from Dundas/Bloor). Heads-up, it's not sca...

listed now BEAU'S NEW LANG SYNE Canada | Beau'S All Natural Brewing LCBO 448621 | 750 mL | $ 16.00 It's an interesting style (tripel aged in pinot grigio barrels), but at that price point for a brewer with a spotty track record I'm not sure if I'm willing to give it a chance. http://beaus.ca/beer/n...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Finally got around this weekend to cracking one of the Gregorius Trappists that I picked up earlier this year and I thought it was excellent. Complex on the nose and palate with the usual assortment of dried fruit flavours for a trappist quad quad/dark strong and I thought that the honey was a nice ...

Re: Garden Brewers
They were pouring at the Because Beer festival this summer and last and so must have been contracting brewing for a little while now. I wasn't impressed with their smoked amber either year, but beer fests aren't always great circumstances for judging and I'd be willing to give them another shot.

Re: LCBO 2015 Xmas Release
It's worth noting that this year's Belgian Ales pack has Gulden Draak 9000 Quadrupel instead of Leute Bokbier. Gulden Draak and Piraat were always the standouts for me in this pack, and although I don't like the 9000 as much as classic Gulden Draak, I think it's a good inclusion over Leute which isn...
