Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

BURST along with Karma Citra are now on shelves at Vic Park/Ellesmere. Pretty good selection of GLB on shelves right now as they join HazeMama, Octopus, Canuck and Pompous Ass. I agree, it's nice to see GLB pumping out the LCBO listings since I'm never in the west end anymore.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Compared to a few years ago, there is a tremendous availability of beers with varied and intense flavours. This is good, but I was talking with another Bar Toweler recently that sometimes you just really want, for lack of a better word, a "regular" beer. Had a Saulter Street It's About Bl...

Re: 2020 Autumn Ontario Craft Beers & Pumpkin Beers the LCBO

Glad that the Henderson Stout is back, I thought that was really quite good. Interesting that Fracture seems to be listed as cheaper than in other years??Hopefully that doesn’t mean they’ve lessened the hops in it. I'm happy to see Henderson back as well, that was an excellent export stout and a re...

Re: Great Lakes

Devil's Pale Ale, yes please- the original recipe specifically. It comes back as a seasonal but it's billed as a black IPA now, and while it's still really good, it's quite a bit different than back in the day. It was one of my earliest 'whoa' moments as I was becoming more adventurous with craft b...

Finally, O'Hara's makes a return. While I wish it was just the stout individually, I'll take what I can get; probably my all-time favourite Irish dry stout. Some other good looking packs in there as well- time to start saving.

BURST! A New England Pale Ale coming to the LCBO. https://www.canadianbeernews.com/2020/08/05/great-lakes-brewery-burst-a-new-england-pale-ale-coming-to-lcbo/ I do enjoy pretty much every ipa Great Lakes put out....but honestly, how many NE style ones do they need? I’d love a bit more diversity. Ma...

I'm guessing covid played a role in disrupting an organized release, but I will say new beers are popping up in the LCBO at a faster pace than ever. My go to location is Vic Park & Ellesmere and the selection there is excellent, new stuff pretty much weekly.

Re: Flora Hall

I saw this in the media too. The first thing that crossed my mind was, well, now I've heard of Flora Hall. It is a good idea though. The few brewers left that use bottles instead of cans aside, how much more litter cam this cause than all the other junk food wrappers and coffee cups? That an...

Re: Barley Days Brewery

Interesting, although it sounds a bit like sloppy brewing practices since it suggests some sort of souring bacteria got into the cans- I've sat on wheat beers before and they typically don't sour with age. I wonder if there were some wild yeasts on the cucumbers; I've heard of fruited beers re-ferme...

Re: Modern trends

I know the light lager trend has been brewing (sorry) for a while, and is part of chasing a session market, including radlers and hard sodas (spritzers?). But I wonder how much is influenced by the closing of bars. I can see people choosing packaged alcohol on the basis of when and where they are g...

Re: Modern trends

So over the last few years the "trends" seem to have been IPAs, NEIPAs, and then starting last year, everyone seemed to have some type of sour. This year? By my observation, there have been quite a few "Mexican Lagers" introduced. Not judging, but definitely not as exciting for ...
