Re: Brothers Brewing
Why isn't crowdfunding the same thing as finding investors? Being an investor means you own a piece of the company (i.e. the investor gives money, the company gives a share which entitles the investor to receive a portion of future profits and a portion of the proceeds if the company is sold. of co...

Re: Blanton's
Hey, I've noticed Blanton's mentioned on a few posts. Seems the Original is discontinued however the Single Barrel is not. What are they both like? I'm pretty new to bourbon (scotch drinker) and am fond of Weller 12 & Eagle Rare. I have a bottle of Knob Creek that doesn't do much for me. Guess ...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I just cannot see how they justify their prices though, as they don't even go through a middle man. Can you imagine the cost of their beers if they were in the LCBO?! The way alcohol pricing works in Ontario, iirc, price at the brewery must be the SAME as if it sold at LCBO. The term "middle m...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I challenge any whisky nerd (esp Scotch) to come up with a bottle of equal quality to the Bellwoods beer, for less than $72! Scotch - Aberlour 12YO @ 59.95 Irish - Redbreast @ 69.95 American - Blanton's Original @ 64.90 Canadian - Alberta Premium Dark Horse @ 27.95 [until Nov. 8th] That was easy. ;...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
I don't understand why Lambda sits around either... Because St. Bernardus Abt 12 is $9.10 for a 750ml bottle. Why would you not go for that option? I kind of feel bad for not supporting Bellwoods as much as I would like to, but their beers are inconsistent and largely underwhelming considering thei...

Re: LCBO Winter craft beer release 2015
I also thought that part of the reason the beer shelf space shrunk was because they combined ciders/coolers/beer into one category. Ciders, coolers and beer (both craft and otherwise) have always been grouped together in the same category. Crazy if you ask me. Yes. Or this - I can picture some LCBO...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Wellington Imperial Russian Stout 4 x 341 mL LCBO 296269 I hope it is going to remain available in single tallboys. I like their IRS, but at no point have I ever needed/wanted four of them at once, and my refrigerator real estate is limited. When the LCBO switches from singles to four-packs, I tend...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
ocd & short attention span AND ... looking at the current trend in whisky prices, I gave up on WWW forum at the right time long-timers here may disagree but beer is offering much better value than whisky at the moment (and no, cheap rot-gut Canadian Whisky doesn't count). when Glenfarclas, one ...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
The good news for the eco-minded is that after the Americans use the barrels to age whiskey for 4-12 years, the thrifty Canadians and Scots re-use them for upwards of 100 years! Oh snap! The infamous Portwood found Bartowel. :) Welcome aboard. Play nice..lol. If WWW is any indication...He's here fo...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
There are also rumours of barrel shortages coming for distillers.....the price of new barrels has risen substantially. I'm not sure that a brewery would be able to just keep increases supply of something like BCBS to meet demand. It just might not be possible. There are just a few preferred species...
