Re: Spearhead Brewing Company
They are located in a fairly large pre-eng industrial building (formerly Knorr Brake factory). I think they may own the building but not sure on that one. They constructed a nice internal bar area and a patio on the roadside. Given the large space (think bigger than Bellwood Hafis), they have held O...

Found a bottle of Founders Backwoods Bastard in my cellar and am drinking it now. Held up okay, still oaky and starts bourbon but finishes more sherry like.
Remember when the LCBO was bringing in Founders for that short spell? Wish they'd cycle through some quality US breweries again.

The brewery is for sale:

$375k seems like a deal, but I heard they are locked into some terrible lease agreement.

Meh, they play it safe and make beers that are approachable to the macro crowd. The moved into a nice big facility next Raxx pool hall/bar. I'm sure they move a lot of product and seem quite popular locally, just not my local beer of choice.

I have a bunch of vintages of Gouden Carolus Cuvée Van de Keizer 2013, '14,' 15', '16. Oldest is probably a St. Bernadus Quad from 2011? Along with a bunch of other trapists (Achel, Orval, Rochefort) all of similar early 10's vintage. Seems I never have the occasion to open. All told there's about 6...

Re: Nickel Brook Mystery Pack Number 2
Mystery Pack Number 2 Liked B the best. A and C were OK. Didn’t care so much for D Masterplan : B is the least offensive offering JaseWescott : that was the beer I voted for and enjoyed the most seangm : I've had A through C now, A and B were decent but C was very underwhelming NB email newsletter ...

I've had the same experience but with non-cryo hops. I put it down to incomplete fermentation, as the beer improved as is bottle conditioned for another week.

Seems SCA has hired a new head brewer. Joe Faint from Nickelbrook.
