I'm hoping our local crafters are watching Red Racer fly off the shelves and see that it's more than gimmick marketing or a fickle beer geek trend. Red Racer IPA is one of the best tasting west coast IPAs around that can compete with the big US micros IPAs.....so IPAs like Red Racer sell out.

Sampled some before the supply collapapsed - Creemore only made 40 HL of it. Lots of specialty and Bavarian malting in it, Hallertaus in the aroma with saaz bite, unfiltered but gravity around 5.3%abv. Nice toasty malty flavor sits just above the hops, clean fairly dry finish. A very good attempt at...

I'm hoping the Paulaner is the real amber marzen they sell at the fest grounds and not the light helles they sell to the schmucks as Oktoberfest beer. I was hoping Spaten Marzen would show up this year.

I understand Andy used roughly the same formula in this as he did in the pub bitter that won a gold in the US Open Beer Championships.... Neustadt also placed 8th in the comp's top 10 brewers .... up against Dechutes, Boston Beer Co., New Belgian Brewing and other US micro giants this was quite an a...

Maybe my sense of aesthetics is off, but to me this was a very quaffable lighter but full flavored version of a mild amber ale. Uncomplicated, tasty and at $3.60 a bottle, way too drinkable.

This is one of the most under rated seasonals of the year. I generally shy away from mild session ales - nothing wrong with them, just not my cup of pee,,,, er - uh - "tea" - if I'm gonna make all those extra trips to the loo, I want to get something out of it. This Neustadt mild session a...

Spaten Hits LCBO shelves

I suppose it was the take over by inbev that has seen Spaten quietly show up on liquor monopoly cooler shelves, but its a welcome addition IMHO. I love Munich Helles and Spaten makes the original and best/last all gristed malt (vollbier),double decocted helles of the big Munich mega breweries. This ...

I have 18 cooling in the beer fridge. This is a summer quencher with a boot...hoppy- bright but sooooo frikkin' smooth...too easy to quaff a few of these+8% brews. I gave it a 4 just for making auch a big brew easy to quaff.

Re: Mad Tom....they really hit the boilerplate Pac NW IPA right on the head. This is a really decent IPA reminiscent of Anchor Liberty or Big Sky IPA. Good Go-to IPA. 8)

Wells Banana Bread Beer

I realize there wasn't a lot of this brought in, but I think it was one of the hidden gems of the summer release. Not being a big or extreme beer it may have been overshadowed by the Rogue and Southern Tier offerings. I found this to be one of the most pleasing fruit-infused beers I have ever sample...

I like it. It's as good as Anchor Liberty and cheaper. A very good boiler plate Pac NW IPA...but it has a certain smooth satisfying quality to it. Hope it is a year long offering, I'll buy a sixer now and again.
