Yeah, it was weird, there were a whole bunch on the counter in front of me but when I asked I was told they weren't released yet and that they were still running tests on 'em.
Oh well, I'll just pick some up tomorrow when I'm there for Warp & Weft!

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases
Looks like Bellwoods' new IIPA is "Double Nelson" and is gonna be released today (or may already be released). http://bellwoodsbrewery.com/product/double-nelson/ I went by earlier today to pick up some Monogomy and they were labelling the bottles but wouldn't sell me any just yet. Not sure...

Re: LCBO Autumn & Halloween/Oktoberfest Beer Releases 2015
The only thing I'm really looking forward to here is the Beau's Oktoberfest pack because it'll have their Boom Gose The Dynamite. I've never had it fresh but I did have a ~2 year old bottle at the Rhino a while ago and it was still pretty darn good. Curious to see what the other 3 beers end up being...

Are those bottles of Yakima still running $20+ in local bars?cratez wrote:Le Castor Yakima IPA (bottle)
Sigh, should have just checked an extra bag the last time I was in QC, bottles were $6.99.

Re: Brock St Brewing
I had their IIPA not too long ago and it was pretty darn good. Darker and maltier than other IIPAs. The hops were more subtle too though that may also be because it was a week or two old (and it was in a growler).

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases
I was referring to this quote from their July lewsletter: "Finding out that we brewed a new double IPA featuring Nelson Sauvin hops, today (rather than Wednesday) is actually a good thing when you think about it -- you don't have to wait as long for it to come out!" I would not think that...

Re: The Craft Brasserie & Grille
I went back here recently and I was pleasantly surprised when we ordered appetizers and they were actually the size of appetizers. When I went on opening night, a ~5oz cup of garlic fries was $6 but now you actually get what would be considered a normal sized bowl at other restaurants.

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases
They haven't publicized this at all other than adding it to the list of items available at the bottle shop, so I don't think one has to fall over themselves to get it. They did post on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. one of the few bellwoods brews i never tried, will definitely be grabbing this. ...

Re: The Craft Brasserie & Grille
Glad to hear it's good. When they first opened they had some pretty rocky Yelp reviews, but sounds just like growing pains. Their later reviews have all been 4 and 5 stars, so now is probably a better time to go anyway compared to when they opened. They also had a number of 5 star reviews on facebo...

Re: 3 minutes to midnight
So what's the deal, they make an announcement and everyone lines up for 11 am? That only seems to happen for Motley Cru....and I'm not sure why it does. All these special barrel aged releases seem to stay in stock for around 3 days or so. They usually have a small line for other special releases to...

It's too soon (I think) for 3MTM. I think you are going to be disappointed :) I'm holding onto hope because of their blog post from the end of last August where they said they were going to brew some Hellwoods and put it in the old BOYD barrels, but they could just be aging it longer like they did ...

Re: New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases
The Bellwoods newsletter today mentioned that Omerta is going to be brewed mid-month (for a July release), but still no mention of the rum barrel-aged version with tropical fruits that they talked about in a blog post ~9 months ago: With a recent batch of Omertá, an idea stirred. Brewed as per usual...

Re: 3 minutes to midnight
I'm betting that this beer mentioned in the Bellwoods newsletter will be 3 Minutes to Midnight: Maybe you were looking for some warning about important, upcoming dates like, say, the 12th of June when a barrel-aged beer that's only been released once before in the history of Bellwoods, will again be...

Re: C'est What Spring Festival - May 22nd
Had the Trafalgar IPA last night and I was pretty impressed to be honest. I love my IPAs and fruity ones aren't uncommon but this was different. The tropical fruity flavour was apparent but not so overpowering as to make it feel like you're drinking a fruit beer.
