Re: LCBO Employees vote to strike

In 2013 a strike was averted at the last minute. LCBO sales were up 150% the day before the strike was to start.

Re: Crossroads (Weston & 401) clearance section

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I remember doing a double take when I saw a bunch of FM stuff at a bottle shop in Valencia a few years back. Think I spotted it in Rome as well.

About a case of Vapeur Cochonnette, an interesting Belgian ale brewed with roasted chicory. 330 ml for $2.90. BB 04/2018.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Over the last while from a Florida beer haul. Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter — Smells like a coffee with lots of cream and maple syrup. Taste is really sweet, a little cloying. Didn't get any bacon or salted chocolate notes I read about. Nice to try but i think this is over hyped and over pr...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I'm guessing it just doesn't bother them a lot. When you're a monopoly clearing almost $2 billion in profit last year, there isn't much sense in worrying about the small potatoes. Beer priced per bottle, but shipped in four- or six-packs is such a tiny fraction of the business, it's an understandab...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Milkshark gets maximum style points but I didn't enjoy my second bottle as much as my first. It's still delicious, but I'd take Runes or Double Monogamy over it.

Sediment

Where do you beer geniuses stand on sediment? I've heard any sediment in wheat beer should be poured into the glass. Unibroue recommends slowly rotating their bottles before opening to mix some sediment into the beer. What about other Belgian ales? Sours? Fruited, spiced or otherwise flavoured beer?...

There's about 24 bottles of Oud Beersel Oude Geuze in the clearance section. The same ones that were sold online by the LCBO. $8.95 per bottle

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

KBS has a trio of wonderful ingredients. Chocolate, coffee, bourbon barrels. I've not had any local option with this trifecta to compare oranges to oranges. I would say KBS is probably one of the best barrel aged beers I've had. The balance of all the flavours is just perfect. Bastardo has the coffe...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I thought Milkshark was really tasty. There's a lot of pineapple there, but the hop presence comes through enough. It's great that we can try a local take on this new style. I'm not a fan of lactose-added beer so I'd probably not want to drink too much of this but damn it's good. I was never really ...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Tried Double Dry Hopped Monogamy — WOW. Probably the most resiny, dank IPA I've tried. Hop hash is good stuff. Almost felt like I was drinking some kind of hop nectar. They have two new ones today: Runes made with "Mosaic lupulin powder" and Milkshark a "Pineapple milkshake-style IPA ...

This is worth a shot with KBS.
