I hear nothing but complaints about overpriced packaging (Mill St Barleywine, Rogue XS series), yet the breweries keep doing it, so it must be working. I avoided last year's Mill St because of the price combined with the so-so reviews that the beer itself gets. I'm not against paying more for good b...

Wild Rose Barleywine was released last March (or thereabouts). It was available on tap at the brewery for quite some time. Bottles were available at the brewery, Kensington Wine and Willow Park... and I believe there are still some left. I tasted it straight out of the conditioning tank in Dec and k...

I've had good luck ordering stuff from La Cachette du Bootlegger, just this side of Montreal. Very friendly, reasonable shipping. Website seems fairly up-to-date. http://www.cachettedubootlegger.ca/indexe.html ive tried getting in touch with these guys but no one picks up the phone and i havent got...

Depends on how awful the selection is, and whether I know I'll be going home (or somewhere else) soon enough to have a good beer. I'll usually try at least 1 pint of Big Rock, Sleeman, Rickards White or Keiths Red. These can be passable if fresh enough and the lines are clean, but 1 pint is all I ca...

Re: That was really dug up from the grave...
I'm not a fan of the kostritzer, but Paddock Wood's is quite good: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/8203/24103 Everytime Kostritzer gets mentioned, I always say, "it's ok, but Black Cat is better." And that's not just a provincial bias, it truly is a better beer. Black Cat rules on ta...

Yep, Bushwakker has De Ranke XX Bitter, as well as many other fine selections in bottle. They must have recently found some more bottles of Fish Tale 10 Squared Anniversary Ale because I saw them in the cooler again. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/684/13416 Plus they always have a rotating gue...

Although I haven't had one in quite a few years, I remember being pretty pleased with some of the Fort Gary offerings. I think their Pale Ale is one of the brews that turned me on to that style in particular and micros in general. I guess if we all liked the same thing there would only be one brewe...

Another option are the Original Joe's restaurant/pubs. There are 2 locations in Edmonton, each one has slightly different taps - the 102 Ave location appears to have the better selection, you can view the tap lists here: http://www.originaljoes.ca/ You could also try contacting Alley Kat and ask the...

Yes you do. Heck, I've already got 4 beers put away for next year's NHC. I've also got a new batch that needs another week or two of bottle conditioning, but I cracked open a half filled bottle on the weekend. Tastes pretty good already, I'm thinking of calling it Hopocalypse... thanks for the recipe!
