Peche Day 2016

Peche Day 2016 will be February 27. Volo will have 6 different varieties on nitro as well as a pretty stellar line up of 26 other stouts/porters. Full details on their Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154054996191162&substory_index=0&id=70703556161&_ft_=top_le...

Re: LCBO Spring Craft Beer Release 2016

Anyone had the Caldera Rauch Ur Bock before? You don't see too many North American craft brewers attempt a rauchbier and those I've tried can't hold a candle to Aecht Schlenkerla. I will probably give this one a shot. I'm of the same mind, but this one's for real. Really, really good rauch in my op...

Re: Dieu Du Ciel Anniversary Party & Bottle Release

I can't remember which BA version of Peche I got to try a while back, but I do remember thinking I liked the regular one better. Which isn't really criticism, since the original is amazing. I had the bourbon barrel aged variety last year at Volo and had the same thought - it was good, but the bourb...

Re: Dieu Du Ciel Anniversary Party & Bottle Release

Peche Mortel aged in brandy/cognac barrels? Sounds like a delicious hybrid of classic Peche and BOYD.

Re: Redline Brewhouse - Barrie, ON

Clutch (APA - a very solid one in my opinion) will be coming to the LCBO. Sounds like they are still early in the process so not sure when it will be listed. Also - they will be releasing a Biere de Garde (brown) in January - I know Sawdust brewed one last year (I think), otherwise can't think of t...

Re: More whining.

I think my main point is that it's not just the LCBO making this happen. We as customers are buying these high priced products ("oooo, look at the fancy new bottle"), so you can't fault breweries/LCBO for doing it. I would like price-per-100ml comparisons on ALL products posted right ther...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I prefer this version to the regular 3 minutes. As do I - the raspberries add an additional level of complexity. It reminds me of Sawdust City's Blood of Cthulhu, although I found that the flavour profile of 3 MTM opens with a lot of raspberry fruitiness and then transitions to more tart cherry not...

I will second everything that Coronaeus said above. I haven't been to Folly since it was re-branded from Habits but am looking forward to visiting more often once the bottle shop opens in the spring.

Thanks! The 750 mL is an unfortunate format size, but this is still a beer I'll pick up from time to time, especially given my mini-rant about diminishing access to tripels.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

2 days after 3 MM is released and not one post about it. weird. It's on tap at Bellwoods and it's a big, amazing beer. Perfect amount of fruit in it. I haven't noticed 3 MM on Bellwoods' website as being available on tap and they're usually pretty good about keeping it up-to-date. I am planning to ...

Re: LCBO Spring Craft Beer Release 2016?

I believe St Feuillien Tripel came and went? There are a few good ones the shelves currently: Chimay White, Westmalle, La Trappe.... You may be thinking of the St. Feuillien Grand Cru, which is tripel-esque in style and was at the L last year as part of one of the seasonal releases - I am glad I gr...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

The owners of TBS are best served if the only stuff on the shelves in either store is Macro. They don't actually need to care if you buy your beer in the LCBO or TBS, since their profits are similar either way. What they really care about is limiting access to alternatives. I feel incredibly stupid ...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

That was one of the trade offs for beer in grocery stores...more availability less selection. I'm not sure that I understand the rationale behind this trade-off. If macro brands and more mainstream craft offerings are now more widely available in grocery stores, shouldn't this free up more shelf sp...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

is it just me, or are there not as many new beers coming to the lcbo as there used to be. (not that its ever been a whole lot.. but still) the winter release only had like 6 beers as part of it, and the spring release that is normally announced by now is non existent. Not to mention that they scrap...
