I had a similar experience with Hill Farmstead. I thought I knew good hoppy beer before I got there. In fact, I had even been to a few well-regarded US breweries to try their best IPAs (Lunch comes to mind) and had the generally impression that Ontario was underrated and the US overrated. Bt then I ...

I went to this last year and honestly wasn't that impressed. The event was well run and all, it just didn't have the best selection. The lineup looks much better this year.

I didn't say it was a bad size, I said it was an odd one. Meaning not 330, 341, 500, 650, 750...

It was an odd size. 375, I think.

just curious as to how or why you can say that it worked very well for LF. yes, they're opening a brewery, but we have no idea how profitable contract brewing was for them. it was simply proof of concept and brand building. doubt it made them much money. I should have elaborated. What I meant to sa...

Worth saying nearby Leaside LCBO store is excellent, was able to cross some things off my list - Founders Porter (they had DB also), Fullers Vintage 2013 and a Chapoutier Cotes du Rhone wine for a solid three bucks off. Nice alternative to Summerhill so close to Amsterdam! Let's help both of them g...

The 3M Gose is a great summer beer. Not if it's priced like other 3M products. You mean the Grand Cuvee beers? It's not. They're like 2.50 a bottle or something in Quebec. I don't find the 3M products particularly over-priced. 10 bucks for a 750 ml 10% outstanding baltic porter seems about right.

The 3M Gose is a great summer beer. I hope they bring back the Maverick and Gose too.

I'd need some examples of new breweries we're talking about here. Most of the breweries I still think of as new, Sawdust City, Collective Arts, Left Field, Double Trouble, Oast House, Indie and Bellwoods just off the top of my head, I think have probably brought up the median quality of beers. There...

People seem to like them. They get lots of votes from the masses in the various best Ontario brewery competitions. 6 years in a row they've taken the golden tap award for best microbrewery. Which doesn't mean they're particularly good or anything, but they do seem to have a broad enough base of appe...

Aside from the Cuvee Brut, I suspect none of these are sour.
Even the cuvee brut is pretty sweet.

Is the boon sweet? I've never had it.

As far a features go, Beau's is too commonly available to be that interesting. But that said, I approve of the styles that they have chosen to make. Old Ale's are always interesting and the other three styles are ones we don't get enough of in the LCBO. I don't think I've ever had a strong beer from...

Is the Keizer still in stock anywhere? I only got the one bottle of that, I'd love to snag a few more for the cellar.
