Re: victims of success?

rejetable does it mean (partially) that 'everyone else' has now made the Vermont IPA style and this fact has made it harder to hype the originator? Well, I'm just a guy who drinks beer, not much of a pundit, but yeah I think for sure that there is so much competition in that market now it has to ha...

Re: Vermont

Quick one-night in Burlington with side trip to Waterbury/Stowe. Man, it struck me how quick the landscape has changed in a few years. Winooski Bev had cases and cases of Heady and SOS just sitting on the floor on a Friday evening. Saw SOS at at least 2 other stores as well. Also, during dinner at F...

My wife just got back. I sent her to Union Beer store and J Wakefield to mule beer back. She's not much of a beer person, but said JW was super cool spot.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

The two Ottawa stores showing inventory are the least likely stores you could possibly imagine. Oh well. Rideau had 800 bottles at opening this morning nothing showing online.

Re: Ottawa and area help

Pretty dead around here lately, but just thought I'm mention I was into Lupulus last weekend. Really nice spot. Beer list was unsurprisingly well done. My only disappointment, although again not a surprise, is that it is very food focused. Definitely not a place you want to go to argue about the hoc...

Re: Molson Buys TDD

Oh, I had that confused. They got bought by RJ, who don't qualify as Macro. Isn't Dunham considerably smaller than DDC or TDD? For sure Dunham is smaller. Just reacting more to the point about comparison. If you only mean compared based on size, well no Dunham doesn't fit. I won't really miss TDD t...

Re: Molson Buys TDD

St. Ambroise were also a pretty good brewery when they were bought. Brasseurs De Montreal had a similar breadth of offerings as TDD, though they lacked some of the cache of the TDD brand. But outside of Dieu Du Ciele, nobody else in Quebec really compares, do they? I've been saying for a few years ...

Re: Redline Brewhouse - Barrie, ON

In the Bradford/Barrie area this weekend for hockey. What are the package formats for take away beer at Redline? Just growlers, or do they have cans/bottles?

Re: Boston

Just did a quick hit and run for the Canton Trillium location on a Sunday afternoon. What a cool spot! Retail was super quick, no line in and out. Had family waiting in the car, so I didn't get a chance to hit the taproom, but it looked awesome! Seemed to maybe be 20 of their beer on tap, and tons o...

Re: New York/Manhattan/Brooklyn

Just spent 5 nights based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Man, how the beer scene has changed in the three years since I was last there! Last time it was all about regional/national beer, great beer lists all around, but filled almost totally with stuff from outside the NYC area. This time, 90% or more of ...

Re: Buffalo NY - what to see and explore?

Quick night in Buffalo:

Thin Man: was super lively. Solid list of maybe 12-15 of their own beer and lots of guest taps. Cool spot.
Allen Burger Venture: another cool spot, lots of great taps to choose from. I didn't eat.

Re: Syracuse

Quick trip to Buffalo and Syracuse this weekend. Auburn: Stopped into Prison City on Saturday afternoon. Place was packed, and I have never seen more kids in a bar in my life. Was like a daycare. I bring my kids all over, so I'm not normally one to notice or complain, but this was crazy. Ah well. Fo...

If any of the Ottawa folks want to unload a bottle of any one of the Cascades, but especially the Vine, I'd be happy to chip in.

Re: Austin, TX

Back from a few days in San Antonio and Austin. Fun sppots. San Antonio: - Weathered Souls: chill big tap room, beers were fine, nothing world beater, but solid. - Freetail: way out of the way, beers were pretty meh, lively spot during a basketball game. - Friendly Spot: man, I LOVED this place. For...
