Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

The Artful Dodger has a fireplace, unless I'm mistaken, and isn't there one at the Bedford Academy? It's a lousy place for beer, but one of the best fireplaces in the city used to be at the roof bar of the Park Plaza. They've since converted it to gas, but it's the most realistic gas fireplace I thi...

Question: Where in Canada can you buy Old Foghorn, EKU 28 (in a 500ml can!), Konig Ludwig Weisse and Rauchenfelser Steinbier? Answer: Manitoba! It's true. While researching a story for a Prairies-based magazine, I was browsing the Manitoba Liquor Commission site and found all of the above. Check it ...

First, regarding New Year's, I don't have a copy of the menu on my computer, but believe me, it's going to be great. Anyone interested should call the restaurant at 416-861-8242 and ask for details. As for reservations, Greg, we do take them for parties of all sizes at lunch and large groups at nigh...

The Belgian night is a limited ticket event in the back room, a part of our evolving 'beer school' program. I'll be leading a group of about 24 people through a bunch of Belgian beers and some complementary foods. It takes place January 27 from 6 - 8:30 and costs $45. Advance tickets are strongly re...

Boxing Day should be an easy one, borderline, ad I'm sure that a bunch of good pubs will have their doors open. But on Christmas Day, two of the only places that spring to mind are the Madison and Paupers, both of which are open 365 days. Hardly stellar beer selections, of course, but there are usua...

Nice meeting you, Duke, and sorry that I didn't have more time to chat. Maybe the next time you're caught between trains. And BTW, I was delighhted to note five uniformly positive customer comments posted on toronto.com. Check them out at http://www.toronto.com/profile/217775/?cr_index=1, and to the...

Just an FYI, folks. For those of you who like your Quelque Chose served hot, Brian has figured out a way to do it at beerbistro. It requires a 15 minute advance ordering, but the bottle arrives at your table steaming and delicious. Available as long as we can keep in stock.

Fear not, boarderline, you are not getting ripped off at beerbistro. I know this because Brian and I specifically sourced glassware for the restaurant that would accommodate a full measure PLUS some room for foam. When we get our branded glasses in -- which are exactly the same as the ones we're cur...

If I can add my two cents, burgermeister, I'd suggest that in giving a speech about brewing the important items should not be the list of allowable ingredients -- which, as Michael points out, is a little misleading -- but rather two common practices engaged in by the big breweries which are not fol...

I'll be hosting a tutored tasting at 5:00 Saturday afternoon, expected to last roughly 45 minutes to an hour. (I believe that there will be an admission charge in the form of tasting coupons.) The beers are unlikely to be new to bartowellers simply because there's nothing terribly new or unusual at ...

Re: The Bow
Towellers should know that, as of yesterday, there has been a huge shake-up there. K. is out; I don't really know aanything about the new guy other than what K. told me yesterday, so I'll keep my trap shut.
