Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

But I could recommend a few if the card is really burning a whole in your pocket. Bourbon - Bulleit 10 YO ($50) well priced against US Blanton's Gold Edition Single Barrel ($100) release date should be soon Scotch - Aberlour A'bunadh ($95) sherry bomb cask strength stuff / Glenfarclas 105 ($106) al...

Re: Random Reviews

Stone Bastard Box So far I've had the Arrogant Bastard and Oaked version ... meh ! The oaked tones down the bitterness and adds a bit more complexity but I practically had to stick my nose in both beers to get any aromas out of them. All the bluster/arrogance on the labels and (unless this stuff is ...

Re: LCBO price tags

My bottle of Ayinger Oktober Fest Marzen also has a sticker
I tried buying one of these a couple of weeks ago and the bar code was scanning as 6 bottles. (KGBO employees couldn't figure it out so I left the bottle behind at the time)

Re: Great Lakes

I can handle 473 cans, hate when all special releases are 750ml as usually high in abv and unfortunately I have no one to share with I understand the economics behind >500ml bottles/cans but wish all high abv beer came in under 400ml sizes! IMO, the European 33cl size is perfect, especially for str...

Re: LCBO and returns or exchanges

As long as a product bar code scans into the system (and the item is in salable condition) they will take it back for exchange for something else of equal or greater value. This means they will take anything back they have sold at any point in time and credit the last price in the system. While this...

Re: LCBO price tags

I noticed the same on Stone Bastard Box
It could be a solution to bar codes that do not scan properly. I recall someone posting in another thread the SBB were scanning at 3x the price.

Re: Ontario Announces First Winning Bidders for Sale of Beer in Grocery Stores

While it's unfortunate that the initial selection is identical to any decent LCBO in Anywhere, Ontario, it's encouraging that Loblaws has decided to devote 50% of its beer shelf space to craft brands, and I suspect the selection will improve over time. Seems like a good start IMO, especially for a ...

Re: Ontario Announces First Winning Bidders for Sale of Beer in Grocery Stores

As with all first steps after deregulating anything previously government controlled, the beer list is ho hum - nothing new. The exciting part is for the future. Once other retailers get a taste of the sales/profit potential, the floodgates will open. The retail lobby will pressure the gov to expand...

It would be cool to live near the Summerhill LC store. Careful what you wish for. It would be cool to afford to live near the store (Rosedale being one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the country )... BUT I worked across the street until recently and I have to say the temptation to buy stuff...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I agree with your general point, but in this case with only 200 bottles, how else are you going to reasonably do it? A lottery as they do for Utopia, maybe. But I got the impression that the whole event was a Goose-driven event, not an LCBO one. I think Goose called the shots and decided how and wh...

Ayinger Oktoberfest at King & Spadina... But it was scanning as a case of 20 at $79, couldn't fix it, and pulled it off sale. :( same issue for me at queens quay, but the manager came over and fixed it. $3.85. Summerhill, coudn't fix it, but didn't bother to call a manager, and I couldn't be bo...

Why isn't crowdfunding the same thing as finding investors? Being an investor means you own a piece of the company (i.e. the investor gives money, the company gives a share which entitles the investor to receive a portion of future profits and a portion of the proceeds if the company is sold. of co...
