Re: What're you drinking right now?

Beau's New Lang Syne Tripel, which may have the fastest forming and largest head I've ever encountered in a beer. Go slow on the pour if you happen to pop one of these.

Kind of a funny story...

Long story short. I just saw a Facebook post from a friend in India and it got me thinking about my time there, when I was often drinking Kingfisher. Horrible stuff, but there was often no better choices. Anyway, they also make Kingfisher Strong, which brings me to what I consider the funny part. On...

Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout. Off the top of my head, the only other beer I've had that specifically mentions espresso in the name is Midnight Sun Espresso Stout, by Yukon Brewing. Great Divide does an Espresso Oak Aged Yeti, which I have yet to try. Love the original Yeti.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

My plan until Christmas Eve is to chip away at some beer that has been waiting five years. Right now I'm on the first of a planned two cork and caged bottles of Chimay Red.

Re: Beer Cellars

Ok, I have completed my inventory of my five year old stuff and have a question. Included among what I've previously mentioned are a few 750ml bottles of Chimay Red. My feeling is that these need to be consumed soon and it may already be a little late. Agree/Disagree. I had a five year old St. Berna...

Re: Beer Cellars

So, I going to try some dedicated and disciplined cellaring again. Previously, I lacked discipline for the long haul. I've got some five year old Chimay Blue, Orval, Rochefort 10, St. Bernardus 12, Peche Mortel and a couple of others kicking around, but truthfully, it's only still there because I wa...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Like a couple of others in the last day or so I am having the 2017 St. Ambroise RIS. I like it now because I enjoy some raunch and roughness in my RIS's, but I can also understand why some might be initially put off. I only bought four, but will likely pick up a few more tomorrow and let most of the...

Re: LCBO Winter Release 2017

I noticed Ten Fidy is available in only nine stores. Does anyone know if it's just rolling in, or if it's wrapping up?

None has made it my way.

Actually, I have encountered one Ontario tripel since my return, as I have a bottle of Beau's New Lang Syne tucked away for the holidays.

I also just uncovered four 750ml cork and caged bottles of St. B. 12 that have also been resting for five years. They were in a different box, so I missed them the first time through.

Yet, beer above this threshold is permitted for sale in the province, as Samichlaus, which clocks in at 14%, was part of the winter release and has been here in the past as well. As an aside, I'd like another crack at Sami, as the first time I tried it many, many years ago proved not to be enjoyable...

Re: "Peak" Craft Beer?

The article is OK and reflects something I have been thinking about since returning to Canada. I glossed over the comments and some were unintentionally hilarious. I found the Western Profs comments a bit misleading, as while he was happy to point out that many breweries offer fifty or more beers, i...

Holiday supplies...

Just curious about what people are drinking over the coming holidays, as the Christmas/New Year period has long been one where I enjoy some quality beers. Here's some of what I have laid in for the festive season. Amager Rye King Oud Beersel Oude Geuze Vieille Halcyon Barrel House Infinity Mirror Go...
