Re: Latest LCBO releases

For those who may not be aware, here's a good resource to stay up-to-date on the latest releases and price changes at the LCBO: http://twitter.com/LCBOWatch Disclaimer: I maintain the account and welcome any suggestions as to how to make it better. Thanks! Thanks @mrcasual, I've been a follower for...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Tucked in the back for days? It's weeks around these parts. Bungling releases like Smuttynose IPA is becoming the norm. Shelving the 12-packs of Molson Canadian is the priority. Do all cities now sell the 12 packs? My city was one of the first to trial it, not sure if it's any more convenient for c...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I think it's really funny that some LC stores will put out a product asap and others you'll see they'll have stock of a product for a few days and you'll go in looking for it, only to be told they are too lazy to bring it out because it's tucked in the back. Tucked in the back for days? It's weeks ...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

The good news for the eco-minded is that after the Americans use the barrels to age whiskey for 4-12 years, the thrifty Canadians and Scots re-use them for upwards of 100 years! Oh snap! The infamous Portwood found Bartowel. :) Welcome aboard. Play nice..lol. If WWW is any indication...He's here fo...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Orval is gradually trickling out to the rest of the province at a glacial pace. If you live in Windsor you're in luck, for once. Brought home my case today after a tense moment. I had placed a special order about 2 weeks ago but when I arrived today to claim my case the CSR's couldn't locate it, po...

I picked up a bottle of Harviestoun Orach Slie. It's another scotch cask aged old ale from Harvestoun, though this time it doesn't carry the moniker Ola Dubh. This has spent time in Glenfarclas casks.

My local has bottles of Bons Voeux on special clearance - I think they're $17 or something. Problem is that they've been on display under the bright fluorescent lights for...geez at least 4 months now. I know Saison Dupont is susceptible to being light struck but what about this Abbey Trippel? Anyon...

I don't have anything to add from comments you received by members of the WWW Maple Leaf Lounge. I got some b-day cash and LCBO gift cards so I think I'm going to order a bottle. Did you buy one? Little advice needed from Islay malt fans about those Lagavulin 12 yr cask strengths kicking around...I ...

Hi Jeff, two sites you should check out if you haven't are http://whiskywhiskywhisky.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=204&sid=7e005048b0825748149e7fadea1d901d and http://www.connosr.com. Whisky x3 in particular has a page for Canadians - the above Maple Leaf Lounge and it's pretty Toronto centric, with...

I wish they could at least get the bottles to not show up as inventory if they're on hold for someone. I hate being tricked into going in to buy something. +1 million. Cannot stand this practice. And staff seem completely oblivious that the drinking public actually go to the website to check invent...

NEW HOLLAND BEER BARREL BOURBON LCBO 387415 | 750 mL bottle ^ I suppose malt whiskey is normally distilled from what is essentially beer anyway. Even though Bourbon is distilled from at least 51% fermented corn, I'd expect beer barrel ageing to be a fairly neutral or subtle influence? Mmm, sweet co...

i assume that's Dragon's Milk? No, it's whiskey aged in barrels that were previously used to age beer. yeah, not sure how excited i'll be about that. Not sure who this appeals to, beer drinkers that like the barrel influence or whisky drinkers who don't - almost like new make spirit without much ta...

Keep in mind though, the LCBO charges a standard markup on this stuff. So if anyone is manipulating the prices like that it's the suppliers, not the LCBO. The Auditor General, Toronto Star columnist Martin Regg Cohn and dozens other critics might see it differently. From the TO Star: Here’s how the...

I'm way more into whisky than I am into beer (78 bottles in my collection; 35 open), and the Laphroaig QC at $60 is a great value in Ontario. There aren't many bourbons or single malts readily available at a lower price in Ontario that I'd rather drink (maybe Four Roses Single Barrel? Rittenhouse R...
