I think Kilkenny was 'brewed down' starting about 4 or 5 years ago, maybe more recently than that. I read the book, 'A man walks into a pub..' and it was mentioned in there. I remember drinking that stuff and Caffreys and it was one of the few times I had a seriously bad hangover. I never touched th...

I guess I can't get my head around why anyone would want to drink a 'smooth-flow' type beer, I personally find them bland and not a fair representation of what an ale should be, and I've had a fair few of them unfortunately. Fair enough if you are venturing into ales from lagers, it's a stepping sto...

Why would you want a Kilkenny-Style Nitro beer? Are you looking for a seriously bad head the next day? Kilkenny, and most other Nitro-Keg smooth-flow crap, have a real weird and nasty after-taste and are just plain wrong. Kilkenny was eventually brewed down and altered to prevent the awful headaches...

The results: http://www.barvolo.com/situation%20secrets%20revealed.htm The "mystery beer" according to Ralph will remain a mystery beer. If number three was made with vanilla beans, why did it taste like chocolate? :S Probably due to chocolate malts being present (?) or Ken and his Elves ...

If you want to sit down, I would get there as early as possible, or maybe more towards the end of the day when every one has drunk themselves silly and wandered off to bed!

I think it's first come first seated, especially if it's as popular as October's festival. I'd be very surprised if seats can be 'reseved'. I may be wrong, but........! How many of you are going, by the way?

And as for Big Rock's Grasshopper Wheat - quality aside, it can't really be compared to a German or Belgian wheat beer as it is a filtered, American-style wheat. Amsterdam and Upper Canada have brewed similar versions locally. I was new to the country and didn't realise it was meant to be a filtere...

So does this mean that their 'wheat' beer won't taste like K*ith's anymore? This is the only beer I've ever had from Big Rock and I was very very disappointed. I actually asked the barmaid if she had served me a lager instead of the requested wheat beer, as it was that bland and clear. That was the ...

So much for the Beer Bistro having a month long exclusivity on this beer then  How much is a glass of the DT's here then?

I produce two "session beers", one aptly named Session Ale (Dry Hop Border Bitter on cask) and Dogsbody. Both are under 4% abv but still manage to maintain a great deal of flavour. Session Ale is back in production, now using Marris Otter malt as a base and Challenger hops for bittering. ...

Is 'session ale' not a British concept, ie. made to drink in quantity? The 'Session Ales" were forced on the Brewers by the Wonderful British Government during the 2 World Wars we had. The higher the alcohol content the more tax was to be paid; also the barley, malt, hops was rationed, so Brew...
