It's been a couple of years since I've been there so I may be misremembering, but I don't think Dieu de Ciel has a very extensive food menu. I seem to recall it being limited to munchies like nachos, a cheese plate, etc. Eep! That's not going to fly too well. Maybe we'll just do after dinner drinks...

We're going to Montreal this weekend with a stop at Kingston Brewery for lunch along the way. We'll be staying at a hotel somewhat near McGill. Any recommendations for breakfast? Eggspectations is one. I need a few more. Lunch one day will be at Rueben's or Schwartz's, whatever winds up being more c...

Lister: If you don't like other Pale Ales you've tried, and find them too bitter, than most certainly Sgt. Majors would blow your socks off as it's one of the most bitter (highest IBU's) of any Ontario beer you can find. Sounds like you should stick more with Best Bitters, or if even that is too bi...

Re: Space Hoggers or Beer Drinkers
And as for moving people to the bar as things fill up, no owner should ever want to do this, as it looks rude on them. That's part of the reason they can't yank away tables from 'space hoggers' who are just nursing one drink for hours. I hate those space hoggers. They should be turfed out when the ...

I hope Magnotta can get theirs bottled at some point soon. All their beers are bottled as far as I know....you should swing by their brewery in Vaughan. You can get all their True north offerings as well as the altbier and the IPA in singles. It's their Wunderweisse that I want. As far as I know Ma...

Not counting last weekends Church Key Spring Revival, this is the third beer festival I've been to. The first two were the 2003 and 2004 festivals at Fort York. I basically expected a smaller Fort York scenario but with better beer all around and that was the case. I was a little surprised too that ...

At about 4pm, a couple of girls walked in for an after-work drink and a chat. They were met at the entrance, and told that if they didn't want food they'd have to sit at the bar. They looked round at the empty pub, and walked out. The more reasonable course of action for the staff would be to nicel...

Funny, yesterday I went to a local Vietnamese restaurant for a big bowl of their great Pho...they have an Amsterdam fridge but almost evertime I ask for an Amsterdam they're out...the last two times they said they had Amber so I ordered a pint. Both times I got a pint of blonde, non-descript beer w...

Generally my downward spiral is based on availability and what I'm fancying at the time. Assuming I'm not wanting anything specific I will get whatever I like that is usually hard to find. If there's absolutely nothing appealing I'll get a martini, not the classic one but a fruity one. Actually if I...
