Re: Bandit Brewery

How are people feeling about these guys these days? I have yet to check them out but am considering checking out some of the breweries around the city I have yet to try. I've read lukewarm things. Opinions would be nice! I've visited once and tried a couple of bottles at home. The quality of each b...

Re: FT: Founders KBS; ISO: Trillium, Treehouse

Never hurts to put the feelers out. It's a hard sell to Ontario folks, though, based on KBS being a shelfie. Maybe try posting to the Beer Trade Canada ISO:FT group on Facebook. You might not get exactly what you are looking for, but you could definitely get some decent out of province/other US stu...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

there are very few world class barrel-aged stouts coming out of ontario. BOYD and Skeleton Key (recent batches) are pretty much the entire list. some vintages of Winey Bastard as well, perhaps. we're so bloody behind on making great barrel-aged beer, it's ridiculous This is bang-on. I would say tha...

Re: Flying Monkeys - Smashbomb atomic IPA

This beer was exciting 6 years ago...sadly it was all we really had at the time for IPAs. This is a definite pass for me now, i revisited it about a month ago and it's just not something i would spend my money on now Couldn't agree more. There was a time that I really enjoyed it......yeah about 5.5...

Re: Great Lakes

I guess it's the El Dorado hops but am I wrong in thinking Meanwhile doesn't taste like a NE IPA? It's a decent beer but not what I expected, more along the lines of a Belgian IPA. Belgian IPA? So you taste Belgian yeast notes? I am going to have to get my hands on a can of this to taste for myself.

Where did she go? Burdock was perhaps the most creative Toronto brewery aside from Bellwoods over the past 6-12 months. Hopefully she's gone somewhere new where she can keep beer like Noom and Ero.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Anyone try grandmas boy yet? Is it as good as last year? I only had the 2014 before it to compare - it was a much different beer then & more like a Tripel in character and strength, deeper and fuller tasting - but the 2017 is still very good, sour and tangy with a lighter feel. Not something yo...

Re: Sextant Craft Brewery

now, less than a year later, it is being bought by another contract brewer: http://www.canadianbeernews.com/2017/02/03/lost-craft-brewing-purchases-sextant-craft-brewery/ This is absolutely crazy! One irrelevant contract brewery purchases another? I also like how they purchased "the assets&quo...

It's excellent! I'd say very similar to the last batch but a touch better.

Re: Barncat Artisan Ales, Cambridge

Without any homerism, Pulp is the best Canadian made IPA, of any style, that I've had. It's also in my top 5 all time IPA's, right up there with Trillium, Tree House and Grimm. Crazy great job, Matt and Jeremy! Pulp is amazing! But if you have had a significant amount of Tree House and Trillium bee...
