Re: Labatt buys Millstreet

Lately seems that they're really trying to push 100th Meridian (along with Organic). Marketing for Tankhouse and others seem stagnant, from what I've seen. They already have a theme song that would fit perfectly with marketing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCFo0a8V-Ag ...well might be better if ...

Ok, so I take it that it doesn't taste like their kriek or other overly sweet lambics.

Re: GTA Coffee

I want to plug a totally under-the-radar coffee roaster, Moonbean in Kensington. It has none of the brand cache of Pilot or Dark Horse, but the guy that does the brewing knows his stuff. He sources a lot of the micro-lots directly and focuses on freshness. Lots of the beans are roasted within the we...

FYI, the barrel-aged Monogamy is still available today. In fact, not much else in the bottle shop.

Maybe we should organize a bartowel outing.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Anyone try this new release yet? Yeah, I did. I had mixed feelings. I didn't love it so much at first. Got a few metallic notes that seemed a bit off. As it warmed, the funk and peach expressed itself considerably more which made it more interesting and flavorful. Seemed perhaps a rather limited te...

Re: Spot to Watch Jays in Toronto Friday 24th

The Dock Ellis will have a line on Friday….they've been slammed for the Blue Jays Game. The original Bar Hop often is a good spot to watch sports as no one thinks of them as a sports bar.

The Berliner was indeed also excellent. I prefer it to the Nickelbrook Uber. Maybe even just a hint of saltiness that made me think of a gose.

Re: Burdock

Finally got around to checking out Burdock. The beer selection is great, and I was especially impressed by their Brett Farmhouse Saison. It's really great...much better than the Bellwoods version at the moment, and I'm known as a Bellwoods fan boy on here. Space is very comfortable and warm. Busy bu...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

And Highland Park's range increased by a lot last year, and Lagavulin 16. Now Highland Park 10 (why was this even made?) is selling for what the 12 was priced at a couple years back. My everyday scotches at the LCBO were Quarter Cask, Highland Park 12 and something more sherried, like Glenfarclas o...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Looks like it is columbus. Tried it last night. It is indeed Columbus. Not the star of the monogamy series, but a respectable entry. Some bitter and vegetal notes. Not a lot of floral. I think I see why this hop is usually part of a team effort. How I wish there were some way to try the exact same ...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Yes, this one was on my firm's dime. I thought about getting a pour of Xyauyu but decided to show some restraint! It was nice to experiment a little with that menu without feeling constrained by the usual cost/benefit analysis and I can honestly say that the Pannepot Grand Riserva was probably wort...
