All I’ve read in this forum about Pike brewery (Seattle) is true. I stopped by the brewpub twice last week and I tried all the beers they had on tap. Just as a curiosity – along with their brews they were serving Celebrator on tap, which is commendable. Anyway I think their IPA should be taken as an...

What's the barley contribution to the beer price these days? Maybe somewhere around 5% of the retail price. This shouldn't affect the prices too much. Ha...

I tried a bottle of Ayinger then I went back and got two cases. This is my kind of summer beer: fruity (full flavor) and dry finish. I recommend it to anyone who likes German wheat.

I don't think there is an actual wine forum site but there are a few that you'll need to check out because they review the LCBO wine releases:
http://www.winereviews.ca/
http://www.ryerson.ca/~dtudor/www.htm
http://www.tonyaspler.com
http://www.vintageassessments.com/va.html
Hope this helps.

I can share my experience regarding aging beer by listing a few of them that I kept in my cellar (temperature between 13-16C): Maudite - amazing results after at least one year of aging La Fin du Monde - improved after 6 months didn't seem to develop after that Aventinus - very good results after on...

Another promising fall for Toronto beer lovers. Personally I already miss the Aecht Schlenherla Rauchbier which was one of the highlights last fall. And Paulaner Salvator... that's not going to last on the shelves for too long. We have to give credit to some guys from LCBO for this one.

It may be different hops (or different crop of hops). Who knows. I remember the first batch of Liberty that I got last summer was just hitting the stores and it still wasn't as thin as the 2002 February version. By the way the September one I purchased it in December but it's been in the fridge all ...

Sediment or no sediment something has changed in Fritz Maytag's recipe. Yesterday I had side by side a February and a September versions of Liberty. The September version had a more assertive hoppiness and fruitiness to it, let alone much bigger body. I think we may witness quality depreciation in o...

Curious thing - maybe someone has an explanation. I was shopping for some Liberty at Weston&401 LCBO and I noticed that some of the bottles don't have the usual sediment that I got used to in this beer. I looked on the label and they seem to have a different date code. Has something changed in t...

Remarkable beer, it's good to have it in Ontario now.

Trois Pistoles has made it's presence on the LCBO beer list so we'll probably see it in stores soon. This is good news.

Brakspear Bitter - one class above Sam Smith. The attack is mild but the finish... WOW! This is what I call english bitter. The malty character is clearly overcome by the hoppiness but this works for me. I think it's a much better buy than S.S. IPA. <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: Manul ...
