I find anything that is amber to dark, and malty (not hoppy) works quite well.

I think griping and hand wringing is justified, when discussing a price increase that is not justifiable. Beer is a luxury item, it's not an essential utility (though some may disagree). As such, businesses can charge whatever the market will bear. Yes, I understand the LCBO is hardly operates unde...

id still love to see durham bottle one of their IPA's. something else that has crossed my mind is trying to get a member of the OCB to contract brew an IPA. there seems to be enough demand here on BT that Im fairly confident that the batch could be pre-sold and therefor no risk to the brewer. if a ...

Saskatchewan got several SS beers in last spring. When the importers got back to me with the bottled date of the RIS, it was summer 06. I'd like to know where the hell those beers had been sitting for 18-21 months before they got dumped on us clueless prairie hicks... in this case, it's a good thing...

Propeller Revolution

I tried some of the batch made last winter (Dec07/Jan08 or so) when it was fresh, and frankly didn't care for it, but I commented at the time that some aging would do wonders. Well, I was right! Had another bottle last night, and it is a beautiful RIS with tons of licorice and cherry, mild roast, ve...

(I'm wondering how old my cellared ones are).
I couldn't figure it out, but I emailed the importer and they told me the bottling date of my bottles (but not the formula for figuring it out myself).

Derek, I agree with your overall review, but I think this beer needs several years of aging before it will soften and be "drinkable." I grabbed some in Alberta earlier this year, and I have no plans to drink them anytime soon.

A few months ago, the Bushwakker had Samichlaus as their Import Daily Special. It was quite humorous to me as I watched a bunch of schmoes drinking it straight out of the bottle (despite being served glassware)... some of them would scrunch their face up on the first gulp, then shake it off and keep...

I've never been to Regina; what's a good place to go there if I ever make it? I couldn't find anything decent the last time I was in Saskatoon. Bushwakker in Regina is one of the best brewpubs anywhere. Period. Regina also has a beer bistro called Beer Bros Bakery and Cuisine, most of what they hav...

The next best viable option for me would be Brewster's. A much better food selection than the Hop-In, and decent beer, but when they told me/ us that they had discontinued the Bighorn Bitter- my absolute go-to beer- I've had little reason to darken their doors again. What a disappointment! Other th...

It's called homebrewing, there is nothing all that new about this product, other than the self contained packaging.
