Was 50 really the base for the Guinness Extra? That even worse than what I had imagined happening... Based on the lone 6-pack I bought of it 4 years ago, I would have to say yes... my palette was very "untrained" at the time, but this Guinness had a distinct "Labatt character" t...

Alberta got their shipment of BCS a few weeks ago, although I believe the price has gone up substantially.

No offense, but the entire Brewdog lineup has been in Alberta since this time last year. I've got 3 different batches of Paradox!

I would like to see more "age-worthy" beers. Session beers are great and all, but I'd like to see more attempts at the bigger styles... seems to be lacking across Canada. There is also a lack of Belgian-inspired ales outside of Quebec, and the few I've tried don't cut the mustard. And a va...

Gary
It's the phenolics from the ale yeast they use when fermented at cool temps (55F).

It's respectable, but Traquair and Belhaven are far superior.

I’m finishing up the design plans with our builder for the basement in my new house. We won’t be moving in until Oct 09, but there will be a dedicated beer cellar (ok, I might put some wine in there too), and the mechanical room has space for 2 horizontal freezers (1 will be full sized and kept arou...

So I gave this beer another shot last night. It was like night and day. The first 2 bottles were purchased in Saskatoon, the most recent 3 were purchased in Regina. It shouldn't make much difference, they all come from a single warehouse, but the Regina bottle was superb. Thanks to all who posted in...

Yeah, but it's a hell of a lot more "imperial" than Sam Smith's.

I appreciate the agressive American stouts, and the more reserved English variants.

But I found the Sam Smith Imperial Stout to be boring. It just doesn't do it for me. Now the Ceylon Lion Stout... thats a damn fine beer!

You might have a hard time finding a place open on Dec 25th. If you're flying Air Canada, consider getting yourself lounge access ($25 I think) and you can self-serve all the Guinness you can drink :-) I'm sure I'll be limited due to it being Dec 25th, but I assumed that most of the services in the...

Digging up an old post here, but it looks like I'll have a 5 hour layover in Toronto on Dec 25. Can anyone suggest a good place to get a pint at Pearson? I'll be in Terminal 1, not sure if 5 hours is enough time to roam elsewhere. I'm hoping the situation has improved since this thread was last acti...

However, maybe the brewery should offer the $4-5 dollars back if you bring it to them. Bushwakker offered this when they bottled their absolutely fantastic SOB Barleywine and Centennial Wheatwine in 500ml ceramics. Not only was this some of the best beer I've ever tasted (if not the best, and I'm b...
