Re: Beer Coming to Grocery Stores?

But no explanation from the government as to why we have to wait another five months for this to happen. It shouldn't need to be explained. You are dealing with a big, fat, bloated bureaucracy - one that has been receiving money for decades from outside interests who are perfectly happy with the st...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Wellington EE-II-EE-II-oh farmhouse IPA. this is really really good. Very tropical, love thT sorachi hop. Easy drinking and refreshing. I'd say this is the best Wellington product I've had I was in Guelph earlier this week and picked up a bottle of this (as well as the simultaneously-released South...

Awesome. I was starting to think that they were just kidding about bringing this one in.

Great price too, just like the Karmeliet, so it'll sell similarly quickly.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Orval is gradually trickling out to the rest of the province at a glacial pace. If you live in Windsor you're in luck, for once.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Is this a new batch of Orval? If so, isn't it likely that stores other than the two listed just haven't been assigned their stock? Yep, that's a safe assumption. Hopefully they start rolling out over the weekend, but given past experiences I wouldn't bet money on it. Early-mid next week is more lik...

Re: Worst Beers!

I skimmed my reviews to see which beers I've given the lowest ratings. There were plenty of macro/ice/malt liquor-type beers in here too, but listing those seemed redundant. 1. Boxer Watermelon - Minhas... 'nuff said. This is quite possibly the worst malt beverage they have ever produced, which is r...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I have been meaning to take a trip up the 402 to London to visit Forked River again - mostly because of Mojo's availability there (although they also have a tripel out at the moment that I'd like to try). But I've been putting it off because I've been waiting for Orval to roll out, and I know London...

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

Well said. Although I did like a couple other beers from the release (definitely NOT the Black). I actually also liked the Green Gold, and the Cream Ale was quite good (for a cream ale), IMO. Haven't opened the black yet, and I probably won't for a few years. Disappointment is a dish best served co...

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

Viola! No Mikkeller wandering further and further north as it doesn't sell in primary markets. The points made in your post are both good ideas that I would like to see implemented, but I am sceptical of the quoted claim. I really think most of the Mikkeller stock would have sat around forever rega...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Drinking a can of Girlpants right now. I like it about as much as I did last year (a fair bit), but I still probably wouldn't have bought it if the staff had bothered to put a price tag on the shelf (at least 5 days and counting, still no tag, rabble rabble, boo to the LCBO, etc.). If GLB can releas...

Re: An idea whose time has(n't) come?

I have problems drinking my Au Bon Veux magnums in the sun before they get warm, and my pet monkey gets tired of holding the bottle. This would normally be considered a 'first world problem', but the monkey butler aspect complicates matters. Also, get that monkey a dolly. Forcing him to carry aroun...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

for those that have had the SNPA and Goose Island, which would you say is better? It's extremely close. They are both solid pale ales that would be perfectly acceptable for everyday swiggin' purposes. I liked SNPA marginally more, but Goose IPA is cheaper so I'm more likely to go for that one again.

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

Muskoka made a good move by canning so many of it's products IMO; it's a no-brainer for their cottage brewery image and they are good offerings. Their good, but not exceptional, beers in 750 mL bottles at exceptional prices, can go sit on the nice warm LCBO shelves for all I care. Agreed on all acc...

Re: Trafalgar ESB, Chocolate Orange Porter, Mighty Oak

These judges are some of the most knowledgeable beer tasters, homebrewers, and pro brewers in the province and definitely aren't a joke. I appreciate your impassioned defence of the inherent value and necessity of beer judging. But Trafalgar has been around a long time, and anyone familiar with thi...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

LCBO ‏@LCBO 1h1 hour ago Some bottles of @SierraNevada wrongly have a March expiration - this was the date of bottling. The beer is good to drink. Sorry about this! This makes sense. The two bottles of SNPA I had last night definitely didn't taste 8-12 months old (and I've had my share of old-ass p...
