Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

Question for the spirits enthusiasts in here. I've received $300 in LBCO gift cards as a xmas gift so what would you guys recommend in the way of bourbon/rye/scotch/cognac available from the LCBO right now? I'm sitting on $200 of gift cards will likely keep sitting as there isn't much in the way of...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

According to Goose Island's website, the Vanilla Rye has 35 IBU and uses only Columbus, which is a concentrated hop. Doesn't sound like a lot of hop. Are they going for something really sweet? Doesn't sound like a flavour profile I would usually go for, but I will make an exception. You are correct...

Re: Cask Days 2015

OK, but the House Ales Porter House was listed at 5.8% so unless I'm missing something here it just seemed like an arbitrary decision not to give out 10oz pours by the server. All casks with a red dot on its sign were 5oz only. This included all the imports/high ABV. Not sure why House Ales was inc...

Re: Cask Days 2015

I get wanting to save some beer for other sessions but not advertising 10oz pours would be the way to go in my opinion. This makes a lot of sense. they opted not to offer 10oz pours for beers over 7% ABV per the Servings section on the cask days homepage. Everything else had the option of 10oz pour...

Re: Cask Days 2015

I'd be shocked if they held back any beer casks, considering how many were empty by session 4. Holding back ciders makes a bit of sense to not disappoint cider drinkers, as there was only 20 or so cider casks. Also I was charged regular price for the imports, whereas I was expecting the prices to b...

Re: Cask Days 2015

Can anyone else comment on whether or not the ciders, bellwoods, or monkish hard drive problems were pouring at the start of session 4? Ciders were pouring until the end of session 4, although the selection was limited. Monkish Hard Drive Problems was finished when I checked at about 9 p.m. I didn'...

Re: Cask Days 2015

I went to Session 3 as general admission on Saturday afternoon. I think they did very well with improvements to procedure and facilities this year. I opted for the California beers on my list first since I thought they would be likely to run out and I wanted to get my hop fix out of the way. That ma...

Re: Cask Days 2015

In the past I remember more "recommend" type posts. Vaguely remember one even from Volo. Has anyone seen anything like this? I've got 4 hours and maybe 20 samples in me, want to make sure I get the good ones, lol These are going to be my targets, though I doubt I'll get to all of them. Ca...

Ok, so I take it that it doesn't taste like their kriek or other overly sweet lambics.
It's a traditional Gueuze. Unsweetened, very tasty, and a great value for the money compared to other gueuze out there.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

pumped to try that gose I saw "session gose" and hoped for something canned but I guess it's another entry in the "Session" series of beers going along with the Session beer fest in the summer akin to the Session Saison with raspberry and lemongrass that came around last year. I...

Re: Re:

Hope that clears it up for you. I'm quite interested to hear which brewery filled a growler for you on the spot, though. Was it their own branded growler? Royal City, Block 3, Granite (if you ask nicely and you want the cask-conditioned stuff) ... I am not trying to get anyone in trouble here but I...

I highly doubt that growler fill stations in LCBO outlets are anywhere near being a possibility even in the not-so-near future. My initial thought process makes me want to say that I wouldn't expect it to be implemented until breweries can fill growlers to go from standard draught lines, but given ...
