Thanks to SirIsm, A, Kent and Jon and Joe for your kind words. I have beer to Portland Oregon several times and was inspired by the IPA's of the Pacific North-West. I hope Sgt. Major's does justice to the style. I will be brewing another batch of Sgt. Major's next week and some will be put into firk...

Thanks guys! I originally envisioned the IPA being a once a year summer seasonal. I may have to re-think this if sales continue the way they are. I must applaud the premium beer drinkers in Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa for supporting this product. I humbly underestimated the thirst for envelope push...

Thanks Josh for your kind words! I never know what to expect when someone with an educated palate tries one of my ales for the first time. I knew that I loved the IPA, but all my beers are like my children to me and I always love them! Thanks to Joe C. from Hamilton for all his support as well. Look...

We released our Sgt. Major's I.P.A. at the Winking Judge Beerfest on April 27th to rave reviews. The driving force for this brew comes from Bill Rea and Al Churchill, owners of the 'Judge. Being self-professed Hop Heads, they wanted an ale with lots of hops in the nose and mouth. We believe we deliv...

I have to side with Joe on this one. The average mark-up in restaurants and bars is triple the cost. A $10.00 bottle of wine that can be purchased at the LCBO usually costs $30.00 when brought to the table. This mark-up must cover many costs inherent to the hospitality biz, like overhead, rent, staf...

If only brewers would spend more time, money and effort on what's in the package rather than the package itself the beer world would be a better place.

John Sleeman's involvement with beer began in the 70's when he opened a beer import company. I think it was called the Imported Beer Company! Anyway, his first millions came from there. I'm not sure if you can get him to bring in any incredible (but low sales volume) beers. He is first and foremost ...

Heritage Brewing of Ottawa is also going to use stubbies when it begins bottling. Their two beers, Premium Lager and Traditional Dark should be on the LCBO shelves by late summer.

Anchor Liberty is not bottle conditioned and there should not be any visible sediment when it is fresh. The Liberty that was on the shelves was probably a little long in the tooth and had developped a natural sediment to to age.
