Re: Time of the Saison
Godspeed HANABI Smoked Saison Brasserie Dupont Saison Both pretty amazing. I like the crisp dryness of the GS, and if course the BD has more roundness and fruit, especially since the bottle is young. If Dupont says BBD in 2020, that is the time when the beer is just getting interesting. Bottle cond...

Re: Blood Brothers Brewing
I was also there last week. They are pretty heavily skewed towards sour styles (albeit a diverse range of "sours") which isn't really my thing. My friends who do like sours have only positive things to say. I narrowly missed Balam, which is disappointing as I also don't get out that way to...

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...
So MERIT has added to the list of ON brewed experimental tripels with By and By. It's brewed with wine skins and lees. What is the obsession with these types of adjuncts with this style? Would be great to see more tripels that stand on their own.

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release
Anyone know what's going on with the Boulevard Whiskey Barrel Stout and Bring out the Imp? They've been listed for some time, but in small quantities and not very well dispersed. I assumed it would only be a matter of time before they were rolled out en masse, but I'm starting to get nervous.

Re: LCBO Autumn, Halloween and Ontario Craft Beers 2018 Release
So the Black Isle we got was “east coast” not Morangie. I mean yeah Glen Morganie is on the east coast but we’re they not able to use their name? Still...yummy beer... So is it Glenmorangie barrels that are used for aging the East Coast edition? I was curious about that. Regardless of distillery, w...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery
Does anyone have any intel on the timing of a BOYD release this year? It was mid-November last year; earlier than previous years. Per the October newsletter: "Bring Out Your Dead 2018 is a thing of beauty and will be released just before Halloween. I'm not sure a beer can be spooky, but this w...

Don't think it's hit the shelves yet.skaghevn wrote:Has the Fuller's Russian Imperial Stout come & gone already? The LCBO listing gives it a release date of September 18th, and there seems to be none in the system.

Re: Black Lab Brewery opening in East Toronto this fall
Not to dampen any enthusiasm, but I know one of the owners and asked about the Belgian focus referenced in the BlogTo article. Apparently, they just mentioned in passing that Belgian styles were among the owners' and brewer's favourites and BlogTo sort of ran with that. No real Belgian influence for...

Re: LCBO Autumn 2018 Release
The post is there, it's right above the one you just made. Maybe you just didn't see it on the second page? Nope. Still can't see it. Otherwise I'd have deleted it by now. FWIW - I got a notification yesterday that you responded to my post, but didn't (and still don't) see your original response. V...

Re: LCBO Autumn 2018 Release
I'm happy with this release. All four German beers are excellent and there are three UK imperial stouts (two new ones for me and Fuller's is one of my absolute favourites). Will happily try the Boulevard whiskey barrel aged stout as well.

I think the tokens have been the same for at least past three years. I've used leftovers from the previous year in the past without incident.

I'll add Le Saint-Bock to the list. Not sure why this place doesn't garner more notoriety; I've never been disappointed by their offerings.

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Tried Straffe Hendrik (Brugs) Quad the other night and absolutely loved it. It might be an unpopular opinion but I would place it above St Bernardus and Rochefort 10 (some bottles I've found to be better than others). This is outstanding, I'm placing SH Brugs Quad right between Rochefort 10 and Wes...
